How do I verify that a particular website is legit? I am looking for a local cardiologist in Houston and found a site called www.HealthGrades.com. The site looks legit but how can I be sure?

I want to ensure that the medical information I get is correct and I won't be had.

To check the validity of a site, use McAfee Site Advisor as this is what they do. Simply go to http://www.siteadvisor.com/ and enter the Web address. It is also available as an add-on for Internet Explorer or FireFox and it's free.

I tested your site (see results below) and it is safe.

the only legit sites are .org; .edu; .gov

These sites are regulated. Dot com's are not.
