They asked if they could so they can go see the new Spiderman movie. Shouldn't it be a holiday? LOL

sure, give us teachers a break.
Make an afternoon of it, take the kids to lunch and a movie-bonding time(the greatest lesson outside of the classroom)

Depending on the severity of the pneumonia it can several weeks for the symptoms to go away. As for the temp you might need to check the battery if it is a digital. If she's been on antibiotics she may not be running a temp but the symptoms can still make you feel really bad. My recommendation is to keep her at home till she isn't coughing any more and has time to regain some of her strength. Pneumonia can take a lot out of a person. The pains she is experiencing is from muscle strain due to coughing.

Hey if they have no tests and nothing special why not. Let them make a memory of it. My mom let me miss school and took me to see the new Spiderman movie. I can remember my dad letting me skip school once or twice because of something happening on TV that I wanted to see.

Really depends on the kids...
How are they doing in school?
How much school have they missed this year?
What are the chances of them bragging to other kids (thus incurring the wrath of every mother around)

I would say that if you've got good kids with good grades and few absences, this would be an awesome way to reward them, and I would definitely "connect the dots" for them. ie make sure they know that this is the fruit of their great behavior and work this year. (I definitely wouldn't let it be the result of their begging and nagging me about it)

lol... well it depends how old they are and what they would miss if they didn't go... if they're in grade school, haven't missed much school all year, are doing well in school, and are obsessed with spiderman, then HEY Y NOT!? lol!! make it a spiderman day for them and throw a party. be a cool mom. lol have fun!

If it were me I wouldn't let them stay just so they can see a movie. Take them in the evening. A movie is not going to give them a good education and get them a good job

Nah...I'm pretty sure the theater has showings of Spiderman after your kids get out of school.

I let my kids have at least 2 official hooky days each school year. They have good grades and attendance and I think they should be allowed a MOM reward. Funny side note...my kindergartner calls it a Wooky Day. If yours are good kids, I say, go for it.

how about this- since tomorrow is Friday, celebrate the end of the week by taking them out to see the showing when they get out of school. It is seriously not missing school to see a two-hour film.

Sure why not... Spider man 3 only comes out once you know..
I am letting my daughter stay home on Monday because her grandparents are coming to visit and we haven't seen them in 3 years.
