Should we just give up and all convert to islam since there is no way tro win it? Or should we just sit back, let them spread their hate and when they attack us not bother with it becauses we can't win a war on an ideology?

Terrorism is a tactic not an ideology. Islam is a religion not an ideology. Yes it is not possible to wage or win a war against a tactic. It is certainly possible to wage a war on a religion, but it would not be possible to win it. The United States would be up against about 2 billion Muslims worldwide. One of the real keys here, is figuring out who is the enemy.

Their problem is with the wording, not the intent. Almost all democrats support the war in Afghanistan, which is against a terrorists group that supported and carried out an attack on us. The "war on terror" is a talking point and propaganda tool, since you can't fight a war against an ideology.

It is indeed impossible to win a 'War on Terror' - not because terror is an ideaology, but because it is merely a tactic. Terrorism is just a strategy used to win concessions. In that sense, it's differs from diplomacy or protest marches only in that, well, it usually involves hienous crimes like (mass) murder.

The alternative to fighting a nonsensical and unwinnable War on Terror is to fight the enemy, not the tactics employed by the enemy.

Who's the enemy? The ones that have been using acts of terror, and the threat thereof, to win concessions for decades.

We can "win" by getting out of Iraq (it's not our country) and doing a better job of controlling immigration and gathering intelligence. You can't "force a surrender" against a disjointed collection of enemies. There isn't some centralized headquarters you can attack. There's no single leader who you can convince to call off the war. Every day we stay in Iraq we just make it easier for those who hate us to convince others that they should hate us as well.

We need to get the Iraqis to fight their own battles and stand up for themselves. The terrorists attack them just as much as they attack us...more even. If the world goes against them then they won't have anywhere to run and hide to.

We can do a lot more towards winning with diplomacy than we can with bombs. Maybe strengthening our own defenses and intelligence than running around the globe with our military might help.

i don't know what other people said, but i never said ignore it....we have to attack this in some other way....there's no way to stop terrorism...blocking off one country isn't going to do a single thing to stop it.

If the Democrats think we can't win the war, why do they think we can lose it too.

You really do not understand the "war" at all, do you? Your question does not even make sense: it is like a child grabbing his marbles and going home because somebody says they don't like french fries...

There will always be terrorists, but of course we can go after those that are a threat to us......not random countries like Iraq
