The problem with not buying gas on a specific day will not work well becauase (1) The refining / gas companies can weather a 1 day boycott, and regardless of cost, our society is now so mobile that we depend on our vehicles for transportaion necessties, and not just pleasuure. I live 30 miles from my job, and Im not going to walk that after my tank runs dry. A better boycott would be against one gas company say Chevron. The boycott would have to go longer than 1 day and woudl eventually force Chevron to lower their price in order to get customers back. This lowering of a price would then force other gas companies to do the same in order to not loose customers to Chevron.

It will not work because think about all the people that there is worldwide that has cars. So there will be a lot of people buying gas. Like my local gas station is always full, like it takes minutes to fill up my car when there's a lot of people there. So this will not do anything. You can't go worldwide in a day and stop them from using gas, also they have to understand what your saying. So I'm sorry but you can't boycott this.

I don't know if it will work or not. I will participate though. I have to drive 25 miles each way to get to and from work 5 days a week. These fuel prices are out of control and I'm sure I will be hearing about the record profits posted by the oil companies again, even though they say they aren't gouging us. Highest prices ever at the pump + record profits = greedy corporations.

No, because it is not well advertised. I havent even heard of that boycott. And if a lot of people did know about it, there would still be thousands of assholes who don't give a crap, and the people who still need gas no matter what. It's too much on a small scale to actually work.

Probably not....
Everyone would have to fill up the day or two before to be sure that they wouldn't run out of gas. In effect, the same amount of gas will be purchased and will not make a subsequent difference.

That same email has been circulating the internet since the price of gas started skyrocketing...the only thing that has changed is the date of the so called boycott...
Here is an example on www.truthorfiction.com

The only way to bring down gas prices is for everybody to get buying it all the time. They know that they could charge $10/gal and people will still buy it.

If people would actually do it, yeah it would work. But they tried to organize this a couple of years ago and they couldn't manage to rally support.
But think about it. How many sodas and microwavable burritos wouldn't get sold that day. It would hurt the gas stations for sure.
