My car has not started after it rained really hard twice now. the first time i jumped it and it ran fine. last night i went to start it and nothing happend so i decided to wait until the morning to fix it. I jumped it and it ran. once i turned the car off it would not start again and will not even turn the engine over. i cleaned the cables, but still nothing. any ideas on what the problem is?

Since jumping works, battery needs to be replaced (unless cables are not connected well)..

The most draw on a battery is the starter motor. Your radio works because there is still enough power in the battery for it to operate. The heater motor, lights and wipers may also work now. Jump the battery from a vehicle that is running (positive to positive and negative to negative) it should start. If your climate is very cold you'll have the same problem again. If you have an original battery (AC Delco) in your car. it's time to replace it. They usually last 6 to 8 years in a vehicle that has never had an electrical problem

My guess would be the starter but there are many possibilities. Check the connection from the battery cables to the starter. Then check to see if you see any water on the electrical parts of the engine especially near the computer.

Apparently you have a brand new battery and forgot to mention that? Otherwise, why wouldn't your attention be directed to the battery? A starter can't crank the engine without electricity!!

MY FIRST GUESS WOULD BE THE BATTERY IT CAN PRODUCE ENOUGH VOLTAGE FOR LIGHTS TO BURN BRIGHT AND STILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH AMPERAGE TO TURN THE CAR OVER. IF IT JUST CLICKS WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY AND ENGINE DOES NOT TURN AT ALL
THEN MY GUESS WOULD BE THE BENDIX IN THE STARTER OR BAD BATTERY CABLES. REMEMBER YOU HAVE TWO CONNECTIONS ON EACH CABLE ONE TO THE BATTERY AND ONE TO THE STARTER OR GROUND.
ALSO I WOULD HAVE MY ALTENATOR TESTED MOST AUTO PARTS STORES WILL DO THIS FOR FREE.A GOOD BATTERY WILL NOT RECHARGE WITHOUT A WORKING ALTENATOR.

It could be that you need a new Battery, or a new starter.... Spark Plugs could be an issue also

Your battery may be so dead that it is beyond the point of being jumped.

It doesn't work well. That is the problem. You might try to push it from a high hill and then let it run over a cliff into the ocean.

If you say it starts once you jump it, then replace the battery.
