i used to be a powerlifter and we worked out two days a week. tuesday and thursday. one day would be a heavy day and one would be a light day. you should rest for about four days and then max yourself out (start low and build up in increments of 10 to 15 pounds, only doing one press per weight. when you get to a weight that you can't lift any more that is your "max") on heavy days you work out with 60% of your max and on light days you work out with 35% of your max. over a few months you will build up your strength exponentially. (the same principle applies to squats and dead lifts as well)
good luck!!!

usually one day is good enough rest.
Pretty much the muscles just tear when you lift and they grow back bigger and stronger. So giving them a day to rebuild is good. But it is better if you give yourself like the weekend to recoop from the 4-5 days of lifting.

48 to 72 hours rest before doing bulk-up lifts... if reps for cardio.... you can pretty much do daily
