My Doctor said that if I haven't had my baby by this coming up tuesday then she will strip my membrain at my doctors appointment on tuesday. So, I forgot to ask her how long then will it take then for me to go into labor after she strips my membrain? My mom got her membrain stripped with my little sister but she didn't have her for 4 days after that. Does it take that long with everyone? Im not really having anymore contractions but im measuring now 41 weeks and im only 37 weeks. She said that my baby is so big that im way ready to have this baby. My last baby was born at 36 weeks. If anybody has facts on stripping your membrain, please fill me in. Thanks alot!!!

My baby was 8lbs 6oz, and born at 38 weeks. My Dr. stripped my membranes also, to get labor started. 2 days after she did that, I lost my mucus plug and then on the 3rd day, went into labor:) Good Luck!!

First of all, remember that doctors can only make predictions and they can't know for certain how big your baby will be or how labor will turn out.

It's rare that God makes a baby that is "too big" for mom's body. I know women who have vaginally delivered 10, 11 and 12 pound babies.

If I were you I would NOT let them strip your membranes. You could go into labor any day now. Just let nature take its course. Stripping the membranes puts you at risk for infection and does not always start labor right away (like your mom's case).

My doctors have made predictions twice about the size of my babies and they were off by 2 weeks and 2 pounds both times!
