I get y=14 but the answer on the back of the book is different....how do I solve this problem?

So.... i believe:
Radicand 9y+5= Radicand 8y+9 ---- square both sides( it gets rid of the radicand)

Then you have: 9y+5= 8y+9 --- subtract the 8y
So you have: y+5=9--- subtract the 5
you get y=4
Is that more like the answer??

hey this may not be much help but the answers in the back of maths books are sometimes wrong! hope you got the answer right!
