Congratulation on the little bundle of joy!
A great gift from baby would be- Finger & toe prints on a home made Mother's Day card, with flowers wrapped in flower paper and closed with a safty pin (get pin at craft store plastic pink or blue) from baby.
Then breakfast in bed, flowers ...... The rest of day up to you and baby.
That is the most persious gift a person could ever give a first time mom. (Is the card from baby) Oh maybe include a gift certifacte to a dress store for mom to but what she wants)
Godd luck, whatever you do will be just fine. Because it is from the heart and thought of the baby as well. And that my friend is the twinkle in the new mom's eye's- THE BABY GAVE HER A GIFT, HER FIRST BABY, FIRST TIME WILL NEVER FORGET. In bedded in the heart from the tinyest of heart's.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about, the pregnancy, the baby. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
This is a really beautiful poem too!
Women have strengths that amaze us.
They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up for injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without new shoes so their children can have them.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
Women do more than just give birth.
They bring joy and hope.
They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

Remind her that you see her as a woman. Just because sex is still out, there is no reason not to flirt and even grope her sometimes, she'll like it. A nice mother's day gift would be something that reflects her new role and reminds her that you still think she is beautiful and sexy too. A day at the spa, a special piece of jewelry or a little gift from the baby and a nice gift from you will all be welcome. IMPORTANT! The baby is too little to give her a card or a gift on her own, it will mean the world to your wife if you start now and always take responsibility for helping your kid(s) get her cards and gifts for Mother's Day and her birthday. It shows her that you think of her and want her to have special days too. (My husband has yet to get me a card "from the kids" and my oldest is 4).

Pampering. She's probably feeling exhausted. A gift certificate for a day at a spa. If that's not feasible, a relaxing day with dinner cooked for her or brought in, housework done for her and a nice massage.

A clean house, laundry done, all meals taken care of! And a photo of mom and baby together would be beautiful.

If I were you, I'd take the baby for the day to let your wife relax. Give her a nice gift package to a local spa where she canun wind, get a facial, manicure, etc.
Trust me, she'll adore it. :-)
