The worst part is the cleaners had offered to reimburse the judge for his "missing pants" and later, when they found it decided to return the pants instead of paying $1000 - now what happens next - the judge still decides to sue them and rob them of their lifetime of savings - not just that they could be able to afford this huge lawsuit but imagine, it must have simply wrecked their family apart!
Beats it - I came to America, worked for 7 years - earned a lot of money but then, screwed a pair of pants and lost everything I ever earned.
Bankrupt for eternity.

I just took a look at the opinion poll on this suit, and it shows out of 12557 respondents, 2.4% still felt the suit was fair - around 300 respondents agree with the verdict!

This is the judge's address and I am writing him a strong letter of protest - hope more people do it as well!

Or you can even email him roypearsonjr@verizon.net but I doubt he's been already overwhelmed with emails- let's show our support to the poor Chung family by clogging his postal system

This is what America is like - utterly ridiculous. The idea of suing for compensation is to recover damages for loss and suffering. There is no way on earth (except in America) that anyone can suffer $65m for a lost pair of trousers. No wonder the whole country is paralysed with fear. No one can do anything for fear of being sued!!!
America - the whole world is laughing at you!!!!

This is an utter disgrace to America's legal system, however it is only one part of this trend. Lawsuits today have lost all meaning so many are due to the most moronic reasons. Remember that lady who sued McDonald's because the coffee was too hot. I also strongly disagree with the ACLU who sues anyone they can just for money. The ACLU is in my opinion the biggest perpetrator of lawsuit abuse, there was the recent case where they sued a police officer who rammed a suspects car in a high speed chase in a residential district, and of course the dozens of religion based claims. The ACLU hates all expressions of Christianity, there are dozens of cases where christian symbols have been taken down but symbols from other religions are allowed to stay up, how does that make sense?

there is no verdict, the case has not even been heard yet, as a judge he has made a poor decision and it will cost him his job, his judge ship is up for review and many people are now calling for his job, what a douche bag he is, he has shown he can not fairly judge a situation and has no common sense, this could even be grounds to look into every case he has judged and possibly get some overturned! hope they counter sue for malicious prosecution. If ever someone was out to just hurt someone for nothing this is it.

The 2.4% of the people could have been entering joke answers, or simply hate dry cleaners. You ever have a shirt ruined by a dry cleaner? Try getting them to fork over the dough -- you'd want to sue them for $67 million too!

Why did this judge not simply find another dry cleaners after the first time they let him down? this looks like the kind off arrogant over reaction that gives America a bad name.

I am very angered that this "officer of the court" would bring ridicule upon his profession by this frivolous lawsuit. As a member of the bar he is held to a high level of standards and ethics. One of those standards is to not bring shame or disrepute upon the legal profession. I urge the bar association that holds this judge's law license to pull this man's law license for conduct unbecoming a member of the legal profession.

fortunately the judge that's going to hear the case is going to be looking at the reality of a pair of pants that the cleaner all ready found and tried to return to the man. Personally, I hope the judge finds for the attorney and orders that his pants be given to him and that he pay THEIR attorney fees for having harassed them for 2 years.

It's not an issue of rich or greedy Americans in general, it's just the cruel greed displayed by this judge. I don't know how that person can sleep at night. It is beyond ridiculous.

the couple should reimburse him with the pants, give him, say, 200 bucks, buy him lunch and his cab fare, and be off. I hope the lawyer is stripped from the bar. Why would he ruin someones life? Publicity.
