I was just flipping through the questions in Pregnancy and Parenting, and a woman asked a question about Medicaid. It was more a rant, really--complaining about how horrible it was, they didn't pay for anything, etc. About 99% of the people who responded agreed with her, and most of the answers included the phrase, "Medicaid sucks!" How can a person who is getting FREE medical insurance paid for by other, hard working taxpayers such as myself (myself, who I might add, pays nearly $600 a month for medical insurance for my family!) have ANY right to complain about welfare/medicaid? Does this seem wrong to anyone else, or am I alone?

I'm not saying Medicaid is a bad thing. I'm fortunate that I've never had to use it, but does anyone remember that old saying, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you."?

Pray you never lose your job or become terminal ill and can't work nor pay for your insurance. To look down on people who are on Medicaid is wrong. I have NO insurance, I don't qualified for medicaid so I'm stuck seeing the county doctors who don't give a care about anyone but saving the county money. This is the reason I'm not getting the medical testing I so much need, because I'm poor yet not poor enough for medicaid. With medicaid you don't have a broad selection of doctors, you are very limited. I know a man who needs a hearing aid but can't afford one and medicare won't pay for it. How sad is that?

I think that that woman is wrong, Medicaid is one of the best insurance programs available. It is getting more complicated than before as a way to reduce actual medical costs but it it still much better than any insurance that I ever had. I guess one could get frustrated but what is the point anyway? If someone really needs medical coverage, i think that we should all have affordable acces to it, like in Canada where they have public health insurance only. that lady is probably more upset that she is one medicaid and without any other options than actually upset with the medicaid program which is actually pretty good.

Try going on it for awhile or have your aged mom on it. See for yourself. You are lucky you can afford to pay for your own.
These people literally have nothing, shall we say let them all live or die in the street?
Did you ever hear the saying "The squeaky wheel gets the oil"?
If people don't voice their complaints how will we make it better.
Just to say shut up and suffer the consequences is a bit harsh.
Because it is not "earned" by "hard work" doesn't mean they should have any less quality care and ease of use than a person who by the grace of God or good fortune has a better choice of services.

The majority of people who are on Medicaid are hard working Americans who also pay taxes, who can not afford healthcare.

Sometimes we forget that not all people are as fortunate as us and we think of them as lazy everybody needs help to get back on their feet

I get medicaid for my daughter, and my husband works his @ss off, and pays taxes. So, I don't consider it free, but it does help, and I can't complain.

Medical service should be up to par no matter how its being paid for! No one would like to receive substandard treatment just because they dont have money. That is classism, and very wrong!
