This is completely insane and is what is wrong with a lot of christians these days.

A willingness to forgive.
A willingness to accept people and their "mistakes"

Too much self righteousness. Too much "I'm right, you're wrong".

Too much focus on other people's problems and not enough focus on their own.

He should be thankful they turned him away. Even if they'd let him in the church, he would not be accepted as one of them.
'...there goes that guy who's getting a divorce...'

It's one of the reasons I don't go to church.

But there are churchs out there who focus on spiritual things. He's going to have to ask around, look around. Go to some, see how he feels.

I wish him luck.

A~

The church is just a building and no one has the right to
keep someone from the church or receiving God's love and blessing's. Yes some churches are highly against divorce but that still gives them no right to refuse this person some place to speak to God and pray. I think this church should be boycotted for treating someone in this manner it is sad and pathetic and if this church knew there bible it state's do not judge others if thou want to be judged. They have wronged the patrons of the church and the sanctity of God's word. If anything they should be helping this person get through this hard time. There are alot of reasons for divorce and maybe this person has a very valid one and should not be condemned to live in a marriage he is not happy in.

I don't think they should. A lot of churches seem self-righteous to me when it comes to this type of stuff. Your dad needs support right now, not rejection. Is it a Baptist church he was attending? I would recommend attending a non-denominational church...

The only way I could see a church turning your dad away is if your dad was having an affair with another woman and he doesn't want to stop that affair. If someone doesn't want help and they are still trying to go to church acting like everything is okay, then that is a different story. Hopefully that isn't the case.

Read the books of Jesus life in the Bible and be attentive of how he lead his life and the examples and commandments he wants us to live by. Having a relationship with Jesus is a spiritual relationship.

Yes, it is wrong for the church to turn away anyone regardless of what happens in peoples lives. Jesus said whom ever hasn't sin cast the first stone. Since we all are under sin we will continue to sin in our thoughts and actions. Who can cast a stone unto another person-- the answer is no one can judge only God has this power.

Remember it was the church in Jesus time on earth that accuse him of all kinds of things and later Jesus was crucified on the cross. In this we as all believers sins are forgiven and save if we believe and have faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus did say that there's alot of false prophets proclaiming that their teaching the word of God through their sermons but in their actions God doesn't recogize them because they don't have his spirit. Do you think if you ask God something in Jesus's name and do you think God will turn his back from you or anyone. Of course NOT. Beware of those who confess Jesus only by mouth and not in their hearts.

God, Religion, Church, & Bible are not as closely connected as you think.

Religion is a giant club of same thinkers.

In my opinion the human aspect in religion lessens it.

Religion tries too hard to make everyone conform to what they say is "good".

The reason the bible was in latin for so long was so the "Church" could control the information and tell you what it said. Now they tell you what it means.

Sorry you purchased a demanding time yet there are dissimilar different church homes available, why not introduce your self to the administration of a few and discover one the position you may want to fit in. by the way being outspoken isn't continuously smart, attempt chatting with human beings afterwards really.

Unfortunately churches are make up of people and people are judgmental and flawed! No, I don't think Jesus would approve of the church's behavior. So, go on down the road and join up with a more understanding and loving congregation.

Churches aren't going to determine our fate. The are supposed to be giving help to the ones who need it. If i was your dad I wouldn't go back. That isnt a true church.

Churches are overrated. They are more often centres of hypocricy, selfishness and ego. They have nothing to do with the creator of the universe - who cannot be contained or possess in any one building.

Ignore these people. They are nothing but gossipers.
