(3.5, 1)

its all really simple

consider the two coordinates like (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)
the midpoint is something in the middle of the two, right? this works out to be:
(x1+x2)/2 and (y1+y2)/2

which is:
(6+1)/2 , (4+ (-2) )/2
= 7/2 , (4-2)/2
= 3.5 , 2/2
= (3.5, 1)

(1,4), (6,-2) the coordinates for the midpoints are the averages of the 2 points
x=(1+6)/2=7/2=3.5
y=(4-2)/2=2/2=1

(3.5, 1) the 2nd choice is correct.

x = (1 + 6)/2 = 3.5
y = (4 + (-2)) / 2 = 1
Mid point is M(3.5,1)
