To answer your questions in order:

HAVE YOU EVER USED THE DINING PLAN: Yes, I never go to Disney without a plan of some sort. I specifically purchase a package each time so I can get one of the plans Disney offers.

HOW MUCH IS IT: The dining plan is only $38.99 per person, per day.

HOW DO YOU USE IT: For each night stay you will receive 1 counter service meal (or quick service, mostly hamburgers and things, but other options as well) 1 snack (this varies from place to place) and 1 sit down meal (the best part). Even though it does not include all meals, it still is a great deal and I don't think you need to have the extra meal, I think it is more than enough food. To get the plan that offers all three meals you are looking at more than $100 more per person, per day. The other plans are great, but if you don't need all the extras, this is the way to go. When you go to the restaurant tell the castmember that you are on the dining plan and they can help you get the most out of it, it is the best way to get the most up to date information.

IS IT WORTH IT: Absolutely. The dining plan is a great deal and saves most people 40% or more on their dining. I'm not sure of your children's ages, if they are 10 and up the price of the dining may be a little high for you, but you should still save money. If your kids are under 10 they are only paying $11 a day.

On the dining plan, if you use it properly, you will be able to eat at some of the nicest restuarants at Disney and get a ton of food at each place. The only thing that isn't included is alcohol. When I use the plan I usually spend more than the cost of my plan just on my table-service meal, meaning my counter-service and snack are all free for the day, plus I save a little on my main meal and the 19% tip is included.

I could go on and on about the dining plan. It is the first plan Disney has offerred that is affordable to most everyone and is well worth it. I never go without the dining plan, I like it a lot.

You can go to Disney and spend less money on dining, but you won't be able to get nearly as nice of meals as you can on the plan. If you want to eat mainly hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken nuggets, you won't spend as much on your food (except for kids) but you will almost pay as much as you would for the dining plan and the meals aren't nearly as nice.

I've included a link to one of the best sites I have found so far in regards to the dining plan. A lot of info and it helps you plan out your meals a little better. As well as a site that offers lots of great info on dining, and Disney in general.

Please e-mail me if you have questions, I go to Disney all the time and I love to help!

Me and my husband have done Disney a few times. The first couple of times we did not use the dining plan but the last trip we did since it was a free dining plan promotion (which by the way is going on now and you need to book by 6/24 - travel dates are 8/26 thru 9/22. Anyway - it was us and our 2 children and we waved $1,000 (since the dining plan was free) what you do for example if you are staying for 5 nights you will each get 1 breakfast/lunch, 1 snack, 1 dinner for those 5 days. You will be given a list of participating rest. The more costly participating rest may require you to use 2 dining points instead of just one. which you could do - There are many good rest. that participate. Just one other small but very costly suggestion. Since we saved money with our dining plan we decided to splurge and go to Victorias and Alberts which is at the Grand Floridian. Great Great rest. our dinner was $500 (augh!) but so worth it you get a wine pairing with every selection ( i had to have my husband start drinking my wine because I was getting a little tipsey) You get a personalized menu that you get to take home. Really a great memory that will last forever -

When are you going? 8/26-9/22 is free dining at Disney with the purchase of a ticket package. Otherwise the dining plan is good. The food is fantastic and you will get more than you can eat.

Hey there,

My family of 6 is doing disney for two weeks in July this year. we went with the dining plan because it is more convenient to use. It pays for 3 meals a day (1 sit down and 2 counter services).

While we were trying to figure out how much it would cost us, It came out that we would spend $2500 alone on food. the meal package was far more economical than paying for the same thing. The price of the meal includes the meal, beverage, dessert and tax and tip. The package costs us almost $1100 plus our agent threw in some extras....Its a good deal

DO IT!!!

Having used the Dining plan before, I can tell you that you better like to eat when using it! When staying at a resort there, it is tied into your park tickets/room key. Each person will get 1 snack, 1 counter service meal, and 1table service meal. You do not have to use each one everyday, you can mix it up or combine 2 of the table service meals to eat at a few select restaurants( like the Brown Derby in MGM) It is totally up to you to decide on how you want to use it.
A table service consists of an appetizer(each person gets their own) entree, drink(none alcoholic), and dessert. It is ALOT OF FOOD. It also includes a gratuity for the waiter/waitress.
Counter service includes a drink, entree and dessert for each person.
The snacks can be used at ice cream carts, popcorn, pop, water etc . Item that you can get with the dining plan are noted.
I felt that we definitely go our money's worth when we used it. You basically are "prepaying" your meals at a slightly discounted rate. It was nice not to have to worry about pinching pennies when it came to eating. On our last day we were actually scrambling to finish using all our meals and snacks.
If you are hearty eaters then YES it is a good thing, if you eat like a bird.......not so good.
I know that right now if you book a trip for travel between August 28th and September 22nd, you can get the dining plan package for free.

The dining plan is good if you like to eat alot. www.allearsnet.com has great information on it. It is $40 ($42 with taxes?) per person. You get a snack, one counter service meal (entree like sandwich with fries, beverage and dessert) and sit down restaurant meal with an appetizer, entree and dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. I personally eat split entrees with my husband and my kid eats nothing but bread, fries and Sprite so it isn't a deal for us.
