Faster by what definition? 0-60? Quarter mile? 0-100? Top speed? Slalom? Race track (which one?) Which trim vs. which trim? There's at least 5 trims of Altima that I know of, and 2 engine choices, the 2.5 and the more powerful 3.5.
I am going to assume you mean the sportiest model, which would be the 3.5 SE. That puts out a respectable 270 HP, and 258 ft/lb of torque. Curb weight of 3380.
However, Mustang GT, stock, has 4.6L V8 putting out 300 HP, 320 ft/lb of torque. Curb weight of 3500.
Just by looking at the torque alone, I can tell the Mustang GT will be faster in all acceleration scenarios. That extra 120 lbs is not significant problem.

first off everyone who has said anything about the mustang gt 1/4 mile time is way off. the best gt time is around a 13.8 and the average driver will never break 14.4. the altima will depend on its trim level. what i mean by trim level is whether or not it is a v6 or a 4 cylinder. the v6 will not beat a mustang gt, but the se-r altima can get pretty close. the 4 cylinder is not even a comparrison sorry. the gt is a faster car but at the end of the day i will always take an altima over a stang their just a much better car.

I looked at the "car and driver" magazine and the 2007 Nissan Altima does the 1/4 mile in 14.6 sec, 0-60 in 5.9 sec. I really couldn't find the specs for the mustang but I know it has a 500hp engine that is pretty fast. So in my opinion the mustang would smoke the nissan. And I am a nissan owner

mustang gt 500hp? what your thinking of the mustang corba with a supercharge, the mustang gt is faster but a stock gt will not run a 12.8 1/4 mile 300hp it might get a 13.2 1/4mile if a good driver was drivng it.
