they like to deny what is the truth instead of addressing a problem, sterotype, conflict, or situation? what are your thoughts?

Being an idealist is not denying the truth, it is wishing for the ideal you want. It is not total denial of any problem. It is simply a wish for something that you believe is better.

I wish the world was peaceful and happy, but I know it isn't and not likely to improve without divine intervention.

Idealism is a type of hope. If you have no hope then all you have is what is before you and life starts looking worse.
