It's actually very common.
I'm 44, and I get e-mails from men in their 20's and 30's all the time, complimenting my level of maturity...though it's probably the sexual nature of the questions I answer that really motivates the interest...(I know what boys like!)
Ladies like myself....we are sexy, well cared for, confident, open minded, experienced, mature, honest, we do know what we like and aren't afraid to express our desires....but we also don't put up with sh!t that a lot of the young girls tend to. We are so done with games and drama!
And.....we're usually not trying to get you fall in love with us...marry us, or get us pregnant.

No Oedipus complex here. I think all the Cougars out here would join me in saying kudos to you for having such great taste. What a smart guy!!!

Whats not to love? And as for a latent Oedipus complex...or any other complex for that matter...stop analyzing! I think its quite astute of you to recognize the merits of a more mature woman...they no longer have anything to prove to themselves or anyone else, and have no little hang ups or issues. Such a refreshing change...isn't it?
Oh...and Rain? Grow up! Either you are a wannabe pop psychologist, or a young woman who cannot handle the competition of an older woman.

Maybe you're just very mature and are more interested in wisdom over superficial aspects and you find that more in women your senior. Nothing wrong with that as most men are the complete opposite.

So what are You suggesting? That there is something wrong with Your being able to discern between a Girl and a Woman? Good luck to You. I wish more of Us were so insightful, then We would not have to listen to the bleating of others who have not found happiness.

What you find attractive in older women are simply the aspects in yourself which are still underdeveloped. Once you become what you love, you'll no longer feel such a pressing need to live through others. You will simply love out of love...not out of need. This may not make sense to you now, but it will eventually.
EDIT:
Stuper Ruper: What exactly are you ranting about? Do tell! Oh wait, here it is: "Oh...and Rain? Grow up! Either you are a wannabe pop psychologist, or a young woman who cannot handle the competition of an older woman".
Are you mixing your meds again? Or just delusional? Which ever one it is, you need to get a grip. Big time.

i think that you should look around, dont just date older women because even if you think you know thats what you want doesnt mean you should limit yourself to that. you might miss out on a women more your age who has great qualities including the ones you are looking for.

Nothing wrong with that, it all depends on your preferences. I'm engaged to a man who is 10 yrs older than me and nobody, as far as I can tell, finds it odd.

To me it sounds like you just know what you want. Dont forget that some younger women may also have those qualities that you're looking for.
