It all depends on the platform. The problem is, they both tend to do the opposite of their platforms.
Democrats tend to say they like to do things for the people, but they have a record of raising taxes to do it.
Republicans tend to say they want to pay off the national debt and lower taxes. However, they have repetitively had to raise said taxes to achieve this national debt decrease.
In order for them to achieve anything, we need to stop looking at the color of his or her coat, and start looking at whether they do what they say they will. A Democrat and a Republican that actively works to get their agenda and promises reached tends to ignore the coat color, and finds allies in whatever party affiliation they can. Having allies in many places, will be the key to success in a wide range of issues. You will need a well rounded solution that encompasses the problem at all angles, decreasing the margin for error.
Once this can be achieved, then they will be able to reconcile their differences and cooperate.

Partisan politics only serves the interests of the Parties. They'd rather continue the pissing contests, as it's more profitable than actually representing the people that put them in office.
We the People are the owners of our government. The reverse is tyranny, pure and simple.

Some already do...Obama and Richard Lugar worked together on nuclear arms proliferation and Obama and McCain worked together on illegal immigration reform...that is honestly the main reason I am thinking of voting for Obama..he is one of the few people that can see past party affiliations if it is in the best interests pf the country.

Nope.
Republicans spent 45 million in Tax dollars and 4 years investigating Clinton's penis.
I can assure you this attitude of "scorched earth" will not go away anytime soon.

I doubt it. If they ever did I think the next big issue would be the drastic and growing gap between rich and poor. I don't think Reps or Dems want us thinking about that.

No time soon. The Democrats are invested in the defeat of our country to Islamofascism and the Republicans want to win at all costs.

in case you could take somebody chatting with you that way without it bringing you down...and you nonetheless love him, who's to assert you could desire to no longer be with him. i'm particular Democrats and Republicans make it paintings for all time, however the call calling and placed-downs isn't mandatory and it somewhat is no longer something i could desire to in my view cope with. i does no longer want to be with somebody that could continuously attempt to convey me down with the aid of fact of what i presumed in. i'm a real liberal and that i to have faith everybody has their own opinion .(it somewhat is what i think of is the sweetness in being liberal)
