I'm not afraid of dying, I'm not afraid of cancer, and I'm not afraid of any other illness. I am only afraid of having to tell the ones I love if something like that were to happen. Anyone else have the same feelings or different?

Yes, I feel the same way. I believe in an afterlife and look forward to my "new life" . The answer above about hospice is good. With this outlook you would be a wonderful hospice volunteer.

Well, think about it. We're all dying. From the day we are born the sword of democles is hanging over our heads. We're all on a journey toward death, it's just a matter of when. So could you tell someone now "I'm dying"? It would be the truth. What would you be afraid of? People getting hurt? Being isolated? Treated differently? Their emotions? Maybe the realization that in fact, you are dying and it's not just a thought, it's real?

I'm sorta like that, but I wouldn't tell anyone if I did have cancer or any other illness, because usually they'd give me pity, which makes me sad and angry at the same time.

Dying is not much a fear for me, because we're eventually going to die, and I actually prefer dying young than dying old.

Do some volunteer work at Your nearest Hospice. I have seen too much death to worry about it. I am actually on the job right now. Come to terms with it and You come to terms with letting Your loved ones share Your last adventure. For most relatives the pasting of their Mother or father is expected, but still comes as a shock when it actually comes to pass. Initiate Them into the process as 'partners' rather than unwilling participants. You will both benefit.

I'm the same. Death would actually be quite exciting. I mean, what goes on? Floating around? Burning? Instantaneously learning how to play a harp? But telling people would be hard.

Okay. When I found out that my adopted dad had cancer and they weren't sure that he would survive I was upset. I know how you feel. I feel the same. My thing is though is that I won't be able to tell them good-bye.

It's not the dying that bothers me, I just don't want the pain and suffering - I'm hoping for a ten ton bus when the time comes!
