I need help with MIDI software?

i have music creator 3 and it says i need MIDI inputs and outputs...what do i need to get? i really dont understand this MIDI stuff that well. i know i need the connection for my keyboard but what else do i need? microphone? speakers? windmills? taco shells?

Some of Creative's Sound Blaster sound cards have MIDI inputs and outputs; the more basic cards just have microphone-in, line-in, and line-out connections.
