Was anyone in the family hurt in the storm? If not, then that is somewhat of a silver lining. It could have been worse...the tree could have fallen on your or your daughter's bedroom. And at least you have a house for a tree to fall on...some don't even have that. Your family could have gotten something worse than strep...be glad that's all it is. Your sister may not want to come down after hearing the entire family has strep throat. That may save you the trouble and gas of picking her up. And your husband could have been fired instead of written up. Though his boss still wrote him up, he saw the tree that fell, so that proved your husband right. Maybe next time his boss will believe him. Try to focus on your family getting better. If you worry yourself to death, you'll make yourself even more sick. More than anything, your daughter is more important. Try to relax and let the other things sit on the back burner until you're all better. My sympathies and best wishes. Keep your chin up, hon! :)

Munchin. Sometimes, some things are out of our control. While other things we must seek available resources.
When I had small children, aspirin and cool bath helped with fevers. On the throat culture matter, do you have a county health dept? Sometimes they offer throat cultures. Your thinking is very wise. One can still feel well and have strep.
As for your sis, is there any other form of transportation available that she is able to get back home on her own?
Sounds like your husband has a very sorry boss. My husband use to have one of that sort. Once he had called in with an emergency. Afterwhich his idiot boss said he would only accept if he was sick. From that point on, I would call in that he was sick. The boss actually came out once, on some lame excuse. I'm sure to verify. I greeted him at the door, and told the boss, he was sleeping, and I wasnt about to wake him. (There's more than one way to skin a cat)
And one wonders why people become so disgruntled, when treated so badly already under horrendous conditions.
I DO hope your next 24 hours brightens up for you and your family! ;)

The Department of Labor can help your husband, especially when the insurance adjuster comes out to assess the damage.
Drink some water and take a deep breath. Take your medications for the strep throat and realize that you draw your strength from your family working together.
You will get through this rough patch. And some day, you'll look back on this and realize that the boss is a jerk of the highest order

Sounds like the LORD is trying to get your attention.In all cases all of you could have been dead if in the wrong place at the wrong time.If your daughters fever wont come down wash her with ice water.ALso if it comes down to 100 cover her up and let her sweat it out.One thing the LORD showed me about strep throats, I used to get the every year, was they usually start out as a scratchy throat.It hapopened to me once and the LORD told me to take vitamins and asprins every 8 hrs.The scratchy throat was gone the next day and I havent had strepped throat since!I dint have money fior a doctor then.Also tell your husband youre going to take a copy of the write up and some pictures to the labor board and employment security agency after work and see if he is eledgible for alaw suit against the company.Theyll be whistling a different tune especially since the boss saw it!

Don't Quit !
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit--
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than--- It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned to late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out-- The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,---
It's when things seem worst that you musn't quit.

I hope things turn well for you soon. But please keep in mind something my grandmother taught me when I was young...bad things come in 3's....Sick family, Storm, Husband. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and a rainbow in the sky...you just gotta keep goign to find it. Everything will be fine again soon. God doesn't give mountains that you can't climb. You're family will recover and prosper and learn from disaster . Keep your head up and a smile through it all and know that you are blessed still. Materialistic things are replaceable...you still have your family. There is a little good in everything. Don't ever say "could it get worse" something worse could always happen and you don't want that. " That which does not kill us, only makes us stronger.."
Good Luck....God Bless..

Sit down, close your eyes. Breathe in and out slowly at least 20 times. Say a prayer for a little help from above. Organize your thoughts around priorities. See if you can get a friend or relative to go get your sister. Take care of those around you who are sick and take care of yourself. After this stressful storm has passed, help your husband find a better job. Is it possible to take a picture of that tree, and take that picture, along with copies of doctor notes for everyone in the family, to someone within the company he works for ABOVE the butt head that wrote him up?

I'm so sorry. Sounds like you've had a rough 24 hours. Just be thankful for your family and that everyone is safe, be thankful that it was only strep throat and that the tree didn't injure anyone. And remember, "this too shall pass".

Difficult to believe, but some good will come out of all this mess. You may not see it at first, but give it time. For now, keep looking positive. Remember it REALLY could have been worse. Everyone could have been killed when that tree fell on the house.

Oh my gosh girl, what a day!! I'm sorry! Here's a hug! (()) Does your husband's work have a union? If so, he could go to the union rep with the write up. If not, he could definitely go above the boss's head, whoever the one is that wrote him up, or just take the write up and start looking for a better job. They sound like real ******* there. I hope everyone in your home feels better soon! And get your neighbor to come get his tree off your house-he/she/they should have to help clean up. I hope insurance pays for the damages.
