I am looking for something that I can put on my computer, set my calender in it, and then it would alert me somehow the day I have a scheduled event. Any help would be appreciated.

MS Office (Outlook) has a calendar function that performs a similar function...You'd have to leave Outlook running all the time.
Google calendar can be set up that way, plus there are add-on gadgets that will alert you at programmable times and in desired manners...but you'd have to be online all the time...(I don't know whether they have such gadgets for the Google Desktop or not!)
Kplan may have such an element, but there again too, you'd have to let it run all the time...
I guess it makes sense, you'd have to leave any alerter program running all the time.
