I would tell them they looked old enough to know when to mind their own business.

Absolutely it's a compliment. They said you "LOOK" too young to be married, right? Well if that's the case, then hell yeah it's a compliment. Anytime anyone tells you that you look too young for anything it's a compliment. Now if they say you act too young to be married, different story. I got married when I was 23 and I am still happily married. Some people think women shouldn't get married until they're 30 or older, but that's just because they haven't found who they are meant to be with yet. Or they're selfish and are only concerned with themselves. Or maybe they want to have more things before they get married. Whatever the reason it all comes down to being selfish. God created us to marry. Back in the day people married when they were in their early teens. Don't worry about it. But if you are told you look young, definitely a compliment!!!! Congratulations.

yes I think it is a complement. Some people have said the same to me but said straight away they said it because people are getting older when they get married now. Which is true.Everyone I know who has got married recently has been 28 plus. At least you know what you want at a younger age and that you are lucky to have met some one that you want to spend the rest of your life with. Some people are a lot older when they get that.

Mini,
I believe that this was meant as a complement and should be taken as one unless you believe otherwise. That is a wonderful thing to hear from another at this point in your life. There is a young lady that I knew several years ago that was carded every time she went to the store to buy her husband's cigarettes and she was almost 40 years old. She always felt very good about it. Have a great weekend.
Thanks,
Eds

Yes! it is a compliment!

Be proud and happy that you look so young. When you are 40, you'll still be hearing it and you'll love it!

It wasn't so long ago when a woman of 23 was expected to be married.

Good luck and enjoy your youthful beauty!

My guy is 29 and looks like he's 18 -- he loves showing his ID when asked. Don't let it bother you because you know how old you are and if your ready for marriage then do it. People now a days worry too much what other people think of them. Do what makes you happy. And when you get older you'll love the fact you still look young.

Maybe if you were 33! But 23 is too young to be married! I say live out your twenties and party as much as you can and then get married after 30!

Yes.

As someone else said, there's a big differance between:
'You are too young to be married' and
'You look too young to be married'.

Helll , it is a compliment. I would be thrilled to pieces if someone had to say that to me. I don't think 23 years old is too young to be married, i got married just before i turned 18 and i was not pregnant. Just smile and say thank you next time someone says that to you, they are being kind, nice to you and not nasty.

No, I would not take that as a compliment. I say that because how you present yourself can make you seem older or younger than you really are. I would take that comment in such that I do not represent myself as a mature and married young woman.
