Hurricane Elvis...at least that's what we Memphians called it. It happened the summer of 2003...when I was about 7-8 months pregnant! The storm knocked the power out city-wide. Luckily for me, I lived outside of the city, so my power came on within a few hours. But there were people without power for at least a month due to that storm. Sucked big time!

In October 1974 (I was 12) a serious hurricane hit the east coast of Canada where I grew up. In the first few hours it was kind of cool - I remember jumping off the roof of a neighbour's garage holding garbage bags hove our heads like parachutes. We had lots of fun until trees started getting knocked over and people's roofs get ripped off. Most of the serious wind and rain came during the night, and the next day the town looked like a war zone. The best part was we got a week off school while they cleaned up the mess.

There have not been any undesirable mess ups in Finland. a chilly winter probable does not count selection. each now and then it storms a sprint and there are potential cuts... perchance the worst mess ups are spring floods in some aspects the place somebody's carpet can get a sprint soggy.

Hurricane Andrew. Real bummer, too. The following day? It only scared the local bad guys crapless. Didn't really remove ANY significant number of them. Well, I guess nature likes to work things manually!
