I want to remove 2006 anti virus from my computer before installing 2007 but when I go into the add remove programs and try to remove it a dialogue box pops up saying "The specific module could not be found." I cannot remove it from the list. What do I do next?

Before you make a big mess with installing 2007 anti virus over 2006, I would download this free software program that I use. This program will remove write protected dll's, and files that are write protected or corrupt upon your next reboot if you select that method of remove. I use remove on next reboot.

This is a stand alone program, when you download, save to documents and then when you open create a short cut to your desktop.

Right click on browse, and open your "C" program files if that is where you have them. Look for the name of the antivirus program, when you find it, open, then you should see a file, open and then you should see a icon that is the same as the one on your monitor. Click on that icon and it will now be part of Delete Doctor. Click remove on next reboot and reboot your pc. After reboot, open start, run and type in, c://program files, browse, and open your program files. When you find the program listed open and delete.

Always works 100% for even write protected files. They were deleted. As an added protection, I also use search my files, tying in the name of the program and let my pc scan. If any files appear you can delete all of them.

Hope I have helped you.

Reinstall 2006 and then uninstall it...the installation has become corrupt. Or, you can just install 2007 on top of 2006, it should perform an upgrade.
