Many people focus exclusively on the sex life portion of them and are grossed out by thought and ideas of what they do in bed.

You and your friend are young, but the great thing about you being young and gay now is the fact that people and the world at large are more accepting to homosexuality. alot more accepting than 10 yrs ago, 20 yrs ago and so on. Highschool will be rough, it's just the way of the land. Your friend needs to know that he is special in his own way and unique. for every one that teases and taunts him for being who he is, there are those who admire and even envy him. sometimes people will tease because they can't do the things you do and want to sooo badly. men are creatures that get threatened easily by things they don't understand. One you and your friend grow up and become who you are meant to be and become filled with your own confidence and strength, these young years and times of trying to understand things will seem like a distant memory.

I'm straight, and Gay people are o-kay with me. I mean I'm certain there are one or two out there that would get on my nerves, but alot of straight people get on my nerves as well. I don't really look at is as being a gay or straight thing. If you are a good person, well then I like you.
You can't change who you were born to be. That's crazy. You can't say o-kay I know I was born white, but I think I'll be black from now own. People are just that PEOPLE. We all eat, breath, and bleed. There is not one of us who can say that we are truly better than the person standing next to us.
I'd tell your friend that the world is often full of ignorance, and that some days can be tuff, but it's important that he be himself, and to be proud of who he is.
I can't really tell you how to deal with the hatred in the world, I'm 31 years old and I still get blown away with how heartless people can be. Just live for yourself. Good luck.

I'm on your side....People are mean to gay people just because they are afraid of other people that are different than them. Then people use religion as an excuse and say that gays are going to hell and they need to be saved...But the truth is a LOT of people are going to hell and how are they being helped? I, for one, have NOTHING against gays....I actually think that they are really amazing and brave people for being able to go through so much....I actually think some of them are better than straight friends because (the ones I"ve known) are not as shallow and selfish they are more about other people...And that's a great characteristic in ANY person.
As for your friend, tell him to keep his head high....He has no reason to be ashamed....If he wants to he should join a support group to help him deal with in-compassionate high schoolers.

Its hard 4 people to accept what they cannot understand, so this is def. not any faught of his. His has to look at it from a pt of view that he doesn't agree with everything other people do, but this doesn't stop them from doing it. People may have all types of reasons for not accepting his rights...religious beliefs, teaching, scared etc. etc. I'm not saying he should accept hatered from people because of others lack of knowledge but realize he is apart of a movement that I believe in time will be more acceptable. If he really is looking 4 comfort, help him research LBGT support groups etc. And believe me he is happy that he has u there.

Tell him that if he didn't get picked on about this, it'd be something else.
He needs to ignore it, stand up to it, or tell a teacher.
They're just using gay as an excuse, nothing else. The bullies have low self esteem and are putting him down so they can feel better. He needs to know that.
So there's nothing wrong with him, but there is something wrong with the people picking on him.

I wish that I could answer that question. People, for the most part really do not care and it is that small percentage of people that make it their business to know are the ones that are so close minded that I am sure that hopefully someday they will realize the error of their ways.
I would tell him not to pay attention to them. The person that he has to make happy is the person that he looks at in the mirror in the morning. :) Cheers

it's hard for some people but not all . . he needs to keep searching cause there are people out there that will understand it's no different than some white people can't be friendly with black people . . they just don't get the whole picture of Life . . it takes all kinds of people to make the world work not just the ones "we" like

I am sure it is hard to go threw. I know people can be so cruel that it is mean. I guess your friend needs to look at it as at least they are not picking on someone else and that they will move on to the next story soon. Tell your friend to be strong and proud. Good Luck!

I think the best thing you can do for your mate is advise him to go gym or take up some martial arts. That way if it ever did get violent-he'd be able to defend himself-you could go with him. he will need to go regularly for it to be effective. He has chosen not to hide who he is & that's a very positive thing, but he'll need to stand up for who he is-not skulk around miserably, hiding away in the corners like being gay is shameful-its the best damn thing ever!!!
