One of the issues in US culture today is how people turn into complete assh0les because growing up their parents tell them how "special" and "important" they are instead of just to work hard and do the right thing. They come out with a sense of entitlement and generally are complete pricks.

I think you're important to God and certainly your immediate friends and family. I don't know how significant one person is in the grand scheme of life, but most will probably never know who they have influenced positively or negatively.

I think we underestimate how important we CAN be to others. But the key words are "to others". Suggesting service to ,rather than what's in it for me.

To myself, and my family, and my friends, and my work

Oh yeah ,my animals... I am imoortant ot my animals

Otherwise NO

And I like it that way.... most folks are just like me & think they should be or need to be or are more important than that... as the poster above me stated... this is a social & psychological problem in the home environment in the US
