A judge is suing a dry cleaning business for $65million over losing a pair of pants. What do you think?
Here's the article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070503/ap_on_fe_st/65_million_dollar_pants
I think the guy's a wacko. If he didn't want to pay the dry cleaning bill and wanted a few coupons on his next purchas I'd understand but this is too crazy

Although I can see the legalness behind his lawsuit, where is the morality? There are times when you might want to sue but you just don't becuase it's not morally right.

I'm thinking. If this case gets publicized enough and so many people out there call this guy an idiot and write him hate letters, I think under pressure he will have no choice but to drop the lawsuit.

What a jerk! He's from DC, go figure. This is one prime example of why lawsuits in America should be capped.

First off, lets correct one thing , I just saw the "Good Morning America" interview piece this morning. He is not a Judge, But a LAWYER !! (You can watch the peice on the Yahoo front page news) Now that has been corrected, this is a travesty to our judicial system. It is sad that some one like this would try to take advantage of a system to gain such a monetary amount over such a very small issue. This Lawyer should be disbarred. He was offered as much as $6,500 to settle the case. Over 12 times what the pants are worth? I mean come one. It just shows you how inconsiderate some of these lawyers are. Someone likes this gives lawyers in general a bad name and that is just a travesty!!!!!!!

Hi and Good morning....This is utterly ridiculous in my opinion. Now I can understand how one can become frustrated with some of these dry cleaner business's. How they can lose your clothes or damage them to the point that you can't wear them. One usually asks for a replacement in cost or they give you some type of credit or you don't do business with them any longer. This customer took it to the extreme just because he's an attorney. Now everyone knows besides this attorney that those pants didn't cost no 65 million. This is called being extremely greedy and selfish. All he is trying to do is to make a statement and getting a name for himself for his own purpose. This guy knows that no judge or jury is going to grant him 65 mill. for those pants, not when the owners offered a reasonable amount in the beginning. I actually feel for these owners. They tried to please this man with everything they had and he still laughed in their face and went beyond the normal range. This attorney needs to remember that what comes around goes around and he who laughs last laughs best. Have a great day!

This is the type of case that makes the US legal system look like a joke. This case should have been thrown out at once!!!! This man is trying to ruin a hard working familys life over a f'in pair of pants. If I was a lawyer, I would take thier case for free to sue this nut case in return for putting hardship on their lives in the tune of $100 million.

If they gave him bad service and he wants to ruin their business fine. But this is going to far. I'm pretty sure we've all came across a dry cleaner, hair salon, restaurant etc. that gave us poor service but I doubt any of us sued, or sued fro this much. We just never went back there again, told our friends how horrible the place was, at the most we wrote a letter to the newspaper talking about our ordeal. This guy is crazy. They dry cleaners should counter sue him for ruining their lives. They'd win!!

The idea of suing anyone over 65 milliom for a lost pair of pants is rediculous.I don't care where a person shops no pants is worth that much.Just think how far us everyday common people could put that money to use.

it really is merely none experience. How might want to someone like him develop right into a decide? i believe a decide should be honest and mutually smart. This man or woman merely develop into mad on the purifier and wanted to play round. sixty 5 million money for a pair of pants? The decide is a silent homicide.

I'm disturbed that the legal system has let such a case go on and ruin these people's lives.
I worked in dry cleaning for 6 years and things just get lost sometimes. The fact that this guy refused the cleaner's generous settlement attempts just shows that he doesn't want justice he just wants to ruin them.

How did he arrive at that value for his pants. The article claims that he's suing on behalf of those who were allegedly duped by these signs in dry cleaners 'satisfaction guaranteed', and 'same day service'. Too bad they can't set up a pillary in front of the courthouse, lock him into it, and let people throw pants at him for a day, or a few hours.

You are right, the legal system is set up to attract this type of stuff.
Like the Imams who intentionally spooked the airline passengers so they could sue and get money. This is done all the time.
