"I don't know" is a quick way for them to accuse you of "point gaming." However, face it, they can stretch the rules to mean anything their little fascist hearts desire.
There are tattle tale trolls on this site who just LOVE to turn people in. Often, one or more of them will "target" a victim and make repeated reports about that person. You should see some of the stuff I've been reported on! I've even had answers that had already been chosen as "best answer" removed for allegedly violating the rules and I tried appealing these erroneous allegations of violation but got no response.
Let's face it, Yahoo doesn't care if we're happy campers or not. They know that the average person, upon having their account deleted, simply gets another account and keeps coming here instead of leaving in a snit and never returning.
It helps them with their marketing to advertisers to say "over 100,000 people opened new accounts last quarter" and they can just forget to say that 50,000 of those accounts were old users whose accounts were deleted coming back and opening new accounts.
So just come for the entertainment value and forget about truth, justice or fair play. Just remember, this place is free and we're getting exactly what we paid for.

I received one violation for an answer to a question that I never posted. Did someone hack into my account?
The subject was immigration. Supposedly I referred to illegals as 'parasites' and that they should be treated with 'bug spray'. That is extreme. While I am against illegal immigration and feel that they should take their place in line behind the legal immigrants, I would never use such language as I was accused of using.
I wrote Yahoo back explaining that the answer was not from me and that they should give back the 12 pts they deducted from me. I received no response.

Go the forum at the top of this page. Once there, go to wrongful violations and post exactly what you said to get the violation in the first place. The yahoo answers team will answer your question there.

Join the crowd. Some of us think that Yahoo has hired trolls to be on the board and tempt you to say things against the TOS and when you don't, they report you for nothing. The trick is to know which ones they are and never respond to their questions. I know a few of them but if I posted them, they'd find a way to get me kicked off.

I've had a couple answers that were reported and one question removed. I have never been hateful or mean or raunchy in my life I did ask why I and I never got a response.Just a from note that everybody gets that says we will check into this. It hasn't happened to me in weeks so all I can do is let it go.

I merely gained a message in my inbox asserting my appeal replaced into authorized for a query they deleted that I asked over a month in the past & they reinstated it, which i replaced into chuffed approximately, yet in step with probability they have been subsidized up & merely all got to work on questions that have been deleted & at the instant are merely catching up.

Yep. They allow some questions and answers on here that are basically repulsive, and delete benign ones.

You were reported by those who were answering the question. Not YA. If you don't know an answer, don't answer.
