How is real estate? Jobs? Nice place to live? Anything anyone knows about Reno, that would be great. Thanks.

I lived in Reno for a couple of years. Though this was about 20 years ago, I'm told that the cost of living is moderate compared to the rest of the country.

The reason I wish to post is that you need to understand the basic makeup of the city and it's citizens. Reno is called the "Greatest Little City in the World" and they work at keeping that mentality. There are few new dwellings and the city is strapped for such things as police and fire. They don't want people to think that the city can handle more. (The basic thought of the city fathers is "Come visit - leave your money - go home")

The other problem I found with Reno is the people. Most of the people you will meet are transients. There is an entire subculture to the casino's and they travel from Reno to Las Vegas to the Cruises to Atlantic City and back again. It's very hard to make friendships and because of this the long time residents are very hard to get to know. It is not an easy city to make friends.

That said, I found Reno to be a great city to get around in, lost of easy to drive wide streets as well as fun at night (you can go out and drink any time night or day) along with plenty to do for the family. (A mall on the south end of town has a skating rink - or at least it did when I lived there.)

Good shows and great buffets.

Hope this helps.

My sister lives in Sparks, which is a city just outside of Reno. She loves it. It's a small town atmosphere, but it's not really a small town. Real Estate is slightly cheaper than here in Southern California, but than most places are! lol. I've visited Reno several times and have found it to be really nice. It does get snow in the winter, and it gets rather warm in the summer. Lake Tahoe is close, which is great if you ski (water or snow). It is really beautiful up there. I hope this has helped.

Las Vegas is probably the most fascinating and interesting city on the planet and with hotelbye you will find out more. Nowhere otherwise in the world you may find a city that has all the travel amenities that only a complete resort location can provide: lavish casino resorts, fine eating, great stay entertainment and state-of-the artwork conference and business display facilities. Las Vegas happens to be a magnificent town and everything that you'd expect from a world-class city, and more, is the following for the vacation pleasure. Among the places you should visit in Las Vegas may be the Fremont Street, a pedestrian region with all kinds of distinctive sites.

Any city you are interested in knowing about, look up their Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, or City of (insert city name) information. Their websites should tell you everything you want to know.
