I listened to Michael Savage the other night on my way home, when the Sox had the night off. I've heard bits and pieces of the show but I've never listened for 20 minutes straight as I did Monday.

Savage says he's against separate foot washing areas because that would be an Establishment of Religion and thus it would violate the 1st Amendment. He said it would be silly to allow Mikvas and that this was the equivalent.

I say, yes, it is a violation of the First Amendment, but it's a chance to make a deal - - if they're taking their shoes off anyway, that should give the security officers a chance to inspect them for shoe-bombs.

I kinda like that deal.

Map - most chapels are non-denominational - though I agree it's a waste of valuable space.

It's not a first amendment issue. It's an excuse to bash Muslims. If it were a first amendment issue then Savage would be outraged that public money was being spent to maintain the chapels that most major airports have. Instead he's focusing on an expansion of a bathroom used by Muslim cabbies and employees at an airport out west (I forget which one). 4 foot basins and 4 benches will be installed, the cost of which would be far less that the building and maintaining of a chapel.

Savage also says they should put the ten commandments in schools and courts because the majority of people in the U.S. are Christian.

He's a hypocrite.

Anyway, an airport is kind of a public space, but any private business within an airport could put foot washing areas in the airport if they thought it would make them money.

Name one other religion that has a seperate chapel or a chapel in an airport. But if the Muslims want it, better make it bomb proof on the inside. Worship freely in a Muslim state? They say those who don't convert to their religion should be killed.

It's silly. Freedom of religion doesn't mean catering to every religion it means not interfering with any religion. No special facilities, sorry.

OTOH, if an airport wants to attract muslim clientel away from the competition, that would be one way to differentiate itself, and there's nothing wrong with that as a business decision.

NO!!! We are so fricken scared of the Muslims - ooooh we dont want to hurt their feeeeeeeeeeelings.... screw them. I dont know of any other religion who want to terrorize and blow up the whole world! Even if everyone in the WORLD were Muslim, they would end up killing each other! They already are in their own countries!!! ((( sorry ))) got off on a tangent there.... a lot like Savage does! :-)

It's a freakin' airport! Not a mosque. Are the prayers gonna "wear off" between the time it takes them to get from the hotel to the airport??

I haven't heard anything about it. I don't understand, though, why do Muslims have to wash their feet at an airport? Please add additional information.

They can wash their feet in a mud puddle outside if they want to, that's about it.

yes, minorites r often discriminated against and the least we can do is give them special treatment. i think the government should send every minority 50,000 dollars eevry year to make up for any discrimination
