Ask Apple if you are eligible for any discounts, such as a student discount or a automotive employee discount.
With a student discount, depending on the school, they'll take off between 5% and 35%.
Or wait until Apple has a sale. Surprisingly, they have rather decent sales on their MacBooks

The one place I know it not cheap per say. It is a lot cheaper than the "new" ones though. Apple has a refurbished sales seciton on their site:

I completely believe in refurbs. I have worked on and with computers for years. Three years at CompUSA. Refurb models are a bargin. They have all problems fixed and are just like a brand new one with a small price tag.

Hey there,
Visit http://www.officialmacdeals.com
They have deals featured on Macbook and Apple Products. Also, there are several options like Free HP Printer, $9.99 Carrying case, and upto $150 rebate on many products.
Good luck!!

Like he said, check the refurbished section. There can be some great deals there, but they change often, so you have to keep checking back. I got my MacBook Pro for $1,600.
