If they had traded Bynum for Kidd - the Lakers might still be playing.
They didn't and they lost.
They need to get rid of Bynum - Walton and Sasha and they need to pick up specific players like Jason Kidd, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen
They made a mistake not getting Kidd when they had the chance.
Blame the owners
The Lakers will never get Leandro Barbosa - He just signed a 5 year deal and the Suns are the team that gave him the shot
Lakers need Garnett and Kidd - both veterans - both major playmakers
Nash learned from Kidd and they both have a very unique style. Kidd may be older, but do you really want an untalented young point guard or do you want some sure hands and great no look assists.

Garnett definitely, but I doubt J.Kidd is really going anywhere.
I imagine that if the Lakers make a real push at Garnett, they will have to give up Bynum as a requirement, but without Odom in the deal I doubt they have the players to pull it off. Would you trade KG for Luke Walton, Bynum, and Smush Parker (or any of the other Laker bench players) assuming the salaries were in the same ballpark? Probably not.
The best deal the Lakers can offer for KG is probably Bynum, Kwame, and Odom... or Bynum, Walton, and Odom. I just don't see it being enough. The Lakers would be giving up too much to get KG. Why trade your entire core of the roster to get one stud? This isn't Playstation.
Free agency is the place to go for a PG, and they don't really need an All-Star PG, just a guy good enough to distribute the ball and knock down jumpers when he's open (cause with Kobe getting double and triple teamed, the PG will get open).
Luke Ridnour is probably going to be available either for trade or in free agency in Seattle (not sure of his contract status). Mike Bibby will possibly be available, and same with Andre Miller. Either of these guys would fit in nicely with the Lakers, and Bibby would give the Lakers a real third scorer. Ridnour and Miller are just great ball distributors.
It would be interesting to see if Phoenix is willing to part with Leandro Barbosa if they don't win the title, because he is going to have a lot of value if the PG-market is thin. Could Tony Parker be available for the right youthful talent, because the Spurs are probably the oldest team in the league.

C Kwame Brown
PF Kevin Garnett*
SF Lamar Odom *
SG Kobe Bryant
PG Jason Kidd
Thats a nice starting 5, Thats like a Allstar team, besides Kwame Brown, They could definately get to the Finals with that squad, But its not going to happen! Kidd will most likely stay with the Nets, if they get past the Raptors...Lakers had a chance to get him, earlier in the year...And as far as KG, who ever gets him on their team, will be blessed! he is a Top 5 player in the league

you're crazy if you want to keep kwame brown. Kwame needs to go my son. It doesn't look like KG is willing to leave Minnesota but if i were mitch kupchak i would sell my children for an opportunity to at least get to talk to the guy.
Kobe's prime years are wasting away and they should have dealt Luke and Bynum off when they had the chance to get Jason Kidd earlier this season. It's so hard to watch the Lakers nowadays. There really isn't a single decent player other than Kobe. If they don't at least make a push for KG or Kidd they should at least trade off Sasha, Chris Mihm, and Kwame for someone. It doesn't matter who they get or from what team because i am convinced that Sasha, Mihm, Aaron McKie, Kwame Brown and Vladmir Radmonivic are the worst players in the Western Conference.
It's probably impossible to get both Jason Kidd and KG (but that superstar lineup didn't really work when they had kobe, shaq, malone, and payton) but here's my starting lineup:
C Bynum (if he gets traded then Kwame ...as a last resort)
PF KG
SF Lamar (if he gets traded then Ronny Turiaf)
SG Kobe
PG Jordan Farmar (or Chauncey Billups since his contract is up and wants to leave DET)

How exactly are you getting KG and Kidd with Chris Mihm and Sasha Vujacic? Or even Mihm, Vujacic, Bynum and Walton. You have to be willing to part with at least Bynum and Odom to get close to Garnett. Kidd might come at a lower price but it's still going to cost them more than Mihm and Vujacic. They should trade Bryant for Oden or Durant and start over.
Kobe will always get them to the playoffs therefore eliminating any top tier players that the Lakers will need to get over the hump. Trade him. Go through the rebuilding process. Bynum is your first piece.

Dude that's an allstar lineup that will never happen. Odom has to go if you're gonna' acquire Garnett and/or Kidd. IMPOSSIBLE. Maybe only Garnett, could make it to the Lakers, now that would really help Kobe. If Kidd makes it, that would put a really good point guard to help Kobe estabilish the offense well and not have to do everything by himself.
I think they would have to lose Bynum if they're gonna' get Garnett, either way, THERE HAS TO BE A MAJOR MOVE, THERE HAS TO BE OR ELSE KOBE WILL NEVER WIN.

Lakers need a new point guard definitely but they still have Jordan Farmar, I see Jermaine O'Neal as a possibility in the offseason b/c of the way indiana is going, i see him getting traded soon, I wish the lakers could get KG but he probably won't budge yet, and as far as Jason Kidd, I don't think he's coming to L.A. b/c look at New Jersey, they have V.C. and Jason Kidd, why would they trade Kidd to L.A.? Who would they get in return thats decent? I say, the Lakers need to push for a big man/good defensive player in order to be competing next year.

No way your ever sweeping th Suns in a series no team no how they are way to good, but trading for another scorer in his prime like a KG or a Melo type player is all the Lakers need they are going to be a force soon with the young talent they are breeding. I think Kidd is hitting the wall and none of his stats are in an upward swing, so I would not make any big trade to bring in J.Kidd but a prolific scored like KG would definitly bring the Lakers to the forefront of the NBA's elite teams.

specific i bypass to assert an 8.5 out of 10. i like that the Lakers have been given sessions however. he's a superb participant and he would be a superb greater healthy with the Lakers. he gets particularly some open seems on condition that Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol get double-team and the Lakers would be slightly greater of a quickly ruin team with sessions at factor shield. he's nice. i'm nonetheless very much shocked at Fisher getting traded however. i might in no way have theory this might happen. i will omit him yet good luck to him and his kin. And eliminating Luke Walton meant happy 2d for me! i might have in no way theory a team might elect to get him on condition that he's ineffective and getting paid particularly some money to take a seat down on the bench. LOL BQ: same. Western convention Semifinals because of the fact they did no longer strengthen their bench that plenty. i'm hoping Hill will a minimum of supply the Lakers bench some power however. stay tuned. BQ2: Very mad. Kobe and Fish are like suited pals. they have been by plenty jointly. Fisher stated that he will positioned on #8 in comprehend to Kobe.
