Yes, Jane Fonda is a traitor. The constitutional definition of treason is material aid and comfort to the enemy and it must be witnessed by at least two other people. During the Vietnam war Jane Fonda and her boyfriend Tom Hayden hired a ship and took supplies to Hanoi in North Vietnam. Partly to aid the enemy and to force the Navy to reveal how to avoid being blown up by the mines that we placed in the harbor. She later betrayed the confidence of POWs and posed for pictures on an anti aircraft gun that was being used to shoot at US aircraft. Her actions were witnessed by millions but she was the daughter of an American film icon and Vietnam was unpopular politically. So she got a pass.

No. Misguided maybe, but not a traitor. A traitor is actually someone who threatens OUR country. It's not someone who helps another. Also, remember that the Vietnam War was never legally a "war" because it wasn't declared by congress -- it was a "conflict". As someone who has lived through both, I think Iraq is fast becoming another "Vietnam" -- that is a quagmire more informed by politics than by the military or by good sense.

No, she's not a "Tratior". Being able to speak out and criticize our government is one of the great things about America. Would it be patriotic if we blindly followed without question?

It was after what she did in Hanoi that was the problem. I don't know how much of what happened or the aftermath that you are aware of. The POW's thought that they were going to be able to at least get her to get someone to recognize the propaganda that the Vietnamese were spreading. One of them was beaten very severely after passing her a note that she immediately gave to the captors. I cannot remember if he died or not, but it was close...She gave the appearance of consorting with the enemy, which I believe in all military regulations is considered treason.

She has apologized...
and having a different opinion doesn't make someone a traitor.

and BTW,
some of what people think she over there did isn't true... yes she visited them... but she never betrayed a POW as has often been rumored...

We have freedom of speech in this country. Why are you a traitor when you use that freedom? And why is it some people think that "stars" should not get involved in politics? they are citizens too, aren't they?

It's obvious she had no clue what she was doing.
Let it go. It's not like she gave them intelligence (no pun intended).
