I was thinking of modifying a Karman Ghia with a flat-6, upgraded brakes, etc...and then I thought...what if you put the body sheel of a Ghia over the 911...

As is blowing off people "normally" isn't enough, I would love this form of stealth...

Not sure what you want to accomplish here. The 911 SC is not that fast a car. Subarus, Hondas and Mitsubishis will be slapping you upside the head all day long even after you've spent enormous amounts of money and labor.

I can tell you that a Chevy 350 will fit in a 911. Since you're going to ruin a 911 anyway, might as well install some serious HP with a lot less hassle.

Of course it will be a death trap but that's part of the fun :)

The Porsche has unibody construction, so there is not a body from one or the other to remove and/or refit (and I beleive the VW does as well). Some of the body panels might be able to be relocated, but they would likely require quite a bit of work and some custom fabrication in order to fit - though a 914 or a Beck Spyder would probably make for a better starting point (though the Beck would probably be easier all around, it's more expensive and from my experience, not a great chasis for adding even the power it comes with; the Ghia chasis would likely suffer similar problems if the engine from the 911SC were transplanted).

There coould be options working with a tubeframe race chasis, but this would wind up being quite costly.

Its a hard swap.

that being said, there is a company that made a 993 turbo drivetrain fit into a ghia, and another that put it onto a VW bus (theres a nurburgring vid out there of it, its silly fast!).

the easiest way would be to take out and heavily modify the drivetrain and put it into the ghia's frame/body. A roll cage wouldnt be a bad idea in this case due to a chassis not fit for too too much power/braking. Make sure to allow for proper cooling and such.

its possible, but its a seriously difficult task.

Man, I think the Ghia only fits on the 914 or 916 chassis. If you want some real stealth, rip the engine out of the 911 and drop it in a VW Bus!
