My new son has not had a bowel movement for two days. He keeps bearing down like he's trying real hard to poop, but nothing. He just vomited all over the two of us as well, but is not running fever or acting fussy. He has a doctor's appt tommorrow morning by the way.
I've been told that I can give him water and that may help, but how much to give? Any advice?

My daughter had the same problem. She also had really bad gas and would cry and keep us up all night. I had to push her legs back to help her go to the bathroom. I called my doctor and they told me to switch formula. I was on the regular Enfamil then switched to The Enfamil Gentlease, it helped her it did take a couple of days but it was worth it. Call your Doctor before making any changes. Hope this helps.

Best Constipation Cures

constipation is very typical of newborns. sometimes they can go almost a week without a bowel movement. the vomiting is concerning because of the loss of electrolytes. he has no fever and isn't fussy. if he's still eating and sleeping normal, he's pretty much ok. even though he has a dr. appt. tomorrow and he's probably fine, i would call his dr. just to be safe. you can give him water and it will help with the constipation. just put about 2 oz. in a 4 oz. bottle and let him take sips. make sure it's bottled fluoridated water.

Hi i have a 9 week old and a 1 and 6 year old and you should give him about a half to a whole ounce of warm water make sure it is warm but i wouldn't give him more cause that might make him vomit if you give him to much and i would try massaging it somewhat firmly they dint really like it but it does work but try the water then the massage after he drinks the water.Do not give him prunes he is to young!!!!!!!!!

when you go to the doc see if its the formula, water is ok but no more than an ounce a day. Apple juice is helpful but by all means the doctor is the best. My daughter was like this and they changed her formula and now she is doing great

i'm a mom of a 9 month previous infant woman. And we had this issue for awhile... it will be the iron contained in the formula. some toddlers can't deal with it. Ask your pediatrician in case you promises the infant some gentle corn syrup in his bottle, and that works merely positive. I didnt ought to do it even as she develop into that little, yet i did it even as she develop into like 4 months previous. So i might want to examine with the record. each from time to time prune juice is too harsh. (it fairly works, yet each from time to time too nicely). Pear juice is something else that makes youngsters poop. with slightly of luck you could remedy this issue.

we used the infant glycerine supposetories (sp) and it helped our baby go a little, then checking her temperature with a rectal thermometer helped, a little water and lots of bicycling with their legs. dr told us that a warm bath helps the tummy feel better, gas drops will help and using a low iron formula also helps since the baby doesnt need so much iron within the first three/four months after birth
