I thought about just setting a perrnial on the new grass and just adding gardening soil to reach the top of root, will that work?

No, an Easter Lily is not the same as a Peace Lily. An Easter Lily is in outdoor plant that blooms once a year while a Peace Lily is an indoor plant that can have blooms whenever. As for setting perenials on top of the grass and adding garden soil around them ... when it rains or you water the plants, the soil will be gone unless you have something holding it there (ex. pot, edging, etc.). The best thing to do is to remove a section of the grass -- topsoil layer and all -- plant your perenial, then put the grass back around the plant. This way the grass covers the area without there being an obvious just planted look.

Good luck with your yard!

Spathiphyllum floribundum (Peace Lily or spath) as well as Anthurium and Caladium, are members of the Araceae family. The flower is like a raised hood called a spathe behind a long central spike.
Thses are tropical so they will not tolerate cold winters. Maybe zone 9 or 10? I put mine out on the deck in the shade as it burns in direct light but it winters inside.

Lilium longifolium (Easter Lily) are true lily plants and include some 100 species like the Madonna, Regal, and Turkscap lilies. The flowers are trumpet shaped, flared wide at the opening and the petals curved back.
Easter lilies can be planted out as they grow in southern Oregon and northern California. I hear they are hardy to zone 6 but I'm only zone 7 so I can't confirm that. Plant out doors in the fall.

Perennial on the grass? You can plant without removing the grass by covering it with a layer of paper and covering that with mulch. This blocks all light from the grass killing it. Just dig the hole amend the soil you remove with compost. Put the plant in the ground at the same level in was in the pot. place paper around the plant, but not touching the stem. Mulch the area to cover the paper. Again do not let the mulch pile up the stem. Many plants will not tolerate this.

No a Easter lily and a peace lily are not the same

what we call a Easter lily isn't a Easter lily. After the lily is forced to bloom at Easter in greenhouses by nurseries. They can be planted outdoors in the sun after they quit blooming. after they die down the old stem needs to be cut off . The tuber or bulb is still in the ground. And it will come back if you keep it watered & sometimes bloom again. Put mulch on it in the fall & remove the mulch in the spring after frost & freezing weather is gone and water. They will come back out & bloom in the late summer.

The peace lily is a house plant that can be put on the patio in the summer. It don't take much sun if any for them

No Easter lillies are yellow with green looking "grass" and peace lillies are a plant with leaves and white flowers. I would just dig a hole and plant them. I don't think you can plant peace lillies outside though.
