I'm traveling to Europe (France and Turkey) and want to make calls from my Verizon cell phone. Thanks!

I don't think it works that way. For one thing, verizon uses CDMA on their phones which is not supported in europe so you won't be able to use your phone at all. The advice I always read about is getting an unlocked GSM phone and buying prepaid SIM cards.

Ha? you're using verizon as your mobile carrier so thinking with common sense that only prepaids that are from verizon would only work for your phone.
