Oasis

and yes i have reasons.

aside from the fact that their music has more or less shaped the core of my being, they're just better. AND they're still making awesome music.

the verve was great. richard ashcroft is a genious and bittersweet symphony still gives me goosebumps. that song will be played at my funeral. BUT...that was their only hit (in the US at least. a couple others in the UK, but nothing that impressive). and after urban hymns, the band broke up. who knows what kind of amazing music could have been made, but it wasn't. (btw, richard ashcroft has some great solo songs. i suggest checking them out).

the blur...eh...i think i'm biased against them because oasis was always outspoken about their distaste for them. their music kind of underwhelms me.

pulp...one of those i expect most americans don't know about. this is hardcore definately reminds me of pink floyd (which is AWESOME). barely charted stateside though and nothing in particular stands out to me.

oasis to me is just of a whole other caliber. while i've never been one to believe that popularity determines if one band is better than another, i still think it says something to look at the world-wide success this band really has. and also the fact that they are still making music today that is up to par with what they made in the beginning. longevity really means something in this business. none of their songs were flukes, just pure talent, something that can only be proven, in my opinion, by nearly 15 years of great music. plus they are one of the greatest live acts ever. i almost fainted.

Blur!! Best by miles (even though I did/do like the Verve and Pulp too).

Can i put in a vote for Suede too? In their prime they were totally brilliant.

I think Pulp are the Best Brit pop band.
Just for the pure fact that they are quite different, and Jarvis Cocker is a talented man.

Oasis is great (remember folks, he asked about the 90's, so Kaiser Cheifs, Beatles, etc. don't count) but they would never have been around if it wasn't for the Stone Roses.
