I seriously doubt it, but I have heard many people from different races declaring race wars. Do you think this type of type of extreme hatred can develop in today's society? Explain.

Not necessarily, but racism is increasing. Membership in the KKK is up, racist vigilantes patrol parts of the US Mexican border, and American Nazis have declared war on Hispanics.

I think an actual race war is unlikely, but the policies of the last 30 years or so make increasing racial divisions inevitable - 'hatred' is at once too strong a term for what's going on, and also one that's been robbed of any real meaning by over-use.

The US, today, has a 'multicultural' society - or, at least, special interests and government programs are doing thier best to install 'multiculturalism' as the dominant paradigm to describe US society, and have met with a great deal of success. What that means is that each race, ethnicity, or cultural identity has a /right/ to retain it's individual character and purity, while still existing within American society, and recieving all the rights and benefits due Americans, no matter how much it's beliefs and norms may be outside those of the broader society. Furthermore, it glorifies such difference, and denigrates the mainstream - which can only find redemption in 'tollerance' and 'acceptence,' but which does not need to be tollerated or accepted, itself.

The result is that what mode-average mainstream culture the US may have once had is fragmenting into various identity groups, simply because it is unacceptable to be just an American. To be African-American, for instance, is to have a proud, if tragic, cultural history, even to be Irish-American or Italian-American is to have a cultural identity, but to be just 'American' is evasive. If you say 'American' in response to a question about your race or ethnicity, you're get a snide "So you're an indigenous native American, then? Which Tribe?"

In fact, the hyphenation is even being dropped. Americans will respond with thier race or ancestors' national origin when asked 'what' they are. "I'm Itallian" or "I'm English & German" or whatever. It's a way of coping with mutliculturalist dogma, you must pre-emptively distance yourself from the culture of the evil white American oppressor, even if it's in such a weak way as to cite European origins.

That tendency is even being supported on a formal level, the very use of the term 'American' to describe persons from the United States of America is being challenged on the basis that it's also the name of the North & South American continents - anyone from the western hemisphere, should be an 'American.' Absurd altenatives like 'Unitedstatesian' have been suggested, but, I think the current trend will win out: the US (not USA), will become a nation with no self-identified citizens, truely, a land of immigrants (and Native Tribes, of course), united not by repect or patriotism, but by bland and artificial 'tollerance.'

I don't think it will happen. I hope it wont. Most people with any intelligence know that its not about race. I don't care who the illegal aliens are or where they come from. It does annoy me that people do their damnedest to come to this nation, and yet carry all the "baggage" of the nation they left behind. This is not now nor will it ever be the country you left. Stop trying to change the USA into a copy of the land of your birth. Let this nation be the America you came to seeking your better life. Away from the problems you left behind. Respect the USA and its symbol, our flag, and the people who have made and continue to,keep America the great nation it is.
Americans from many nations made America great, they did it by becoming America citizens and pledging their allegiance to the USA .
No I don't think there will be a whole scale war but there may be a few battles, lets hope not.
And the hatred you speak of comes from both sides of the issue.one can only hope cooler heads prevail.

I have been thinking the same thing since the demonstrations last weekend and it boggles my mind that a group of illegal anybodies can stage a protest and then all walk away without being detained by anybody. What don't folks understand about the term "illegal?" There is a level of frustration in a lot of people who can't figure out how people can demand rights from a country they are not even a citizen of much less illegally entered. Then when these folks start pushing their agenda and become semi-militant about it, that seems to cross the line of resonable descent. It seems likely to me that tempers could flare to the point of a mini civil war if things get out of control. The same can be said for Muslims in this country. How can we be fighting fanatics on one hand and permiting clerics to insight hatred within our own nation and condemning us right in our faces? Folks get fed up with all this backward bs shoveled out by the left because its politically advantageous. It is insane and way beyond common sense that the very freedoms we hold dear are used against us in the middle of a fight. The illegal movement is so out of hand that many people view it as a twelve million member army successfully invading our country. Like it or not, that is the very perception a good many citizens are starting to get. And most everyone will defend themselves and their families against a perceived threat. Therein lies the danger that sooner or later is going to have to be dealt with before a flash point is reached that makes folks believe they must react.

Yes. Unless we constrain immigration, legal as well as illegal, the potential for race based violence will continue to increase. Americans demands for self determination, and the business communities refusal to compete for American workers, their desire to supplant American workers and American wages with lower cost alternatives will sooner rather than later result in too many people chasing too few resources. Immigration policies that encourage immigrants to move and take from others, rather than remain and build their own democracy and economy cannot be sustained as resources and available green spaces disappear. Indeed, if America was invaded by another country's military, at even a fraction of the rate that our southern border is being violated, we would consider ourselves in a full blown invasion and act to stop the incursion.

Now the invaders insist we stop enforcing our immigration laws lest they be inconvenienced!

Given the consciousness level of 98% of this sad species, i would be completely unsurprised by any number of wars arising simultaneously associated with hatred re: race, religion, eye color, weight, gender, choice of breath mints, and which type of incontinence pad to wear.

The really unfortunate fact is that behind ALL the wars stands a cabal of psychopaths that manipulates the moronic populace by inflaming these hatreds. Their agenda--to make huge profits from any and all conflicts, and to reduce the world population to a size more easily controlled.

Read it and weep, sheep!!

There has already been a “race” war. Only not with guns and tanks, and I honestly don’t think I will come to that because there are no actual sides! (like in the Civil war, there were sides…)
The race wars are the riots, the marches, the essays, this section of Yahoo!Answers!!
I don’t know if it will ever calm down, we are not a people of tolerance (overall…) if more people were, our would we be less chaotic! @_@ But realistically, I just don’t see a utopia like that happening.

There will be more problems, I think akin to the thousands of lynchings that took place at the turn of the century.

There is already a race war, if you look at police brutality and racial profiling.

I think that people's hatred for some immigrants and the vigilante mentality will start one at the US Mexico and US Canada borders.

I see legislation in the queue that could lead to a civil war and the divided states of America if they pass HR 1592 the hate crime bill. It will rob people of the basic right of a personal opinion.

No, I do not. Although you do see racially motivated "gang activity", I believe that the majority of Americans are indifferent to someones race. I dislike criminals, regardless of race and that's what all the gang bangers are, criminals. What should be of concern, especially to minorities, is that gang violence is an urban genocide. Black gang bangers killers rival black gang bangers, Latino gang bangers killing Latino gang bangers, etc.. The white neo-nazi skin head pukes are content with attacking other races, unless of course you count the Jews and Muslims, but they see being Jewish or Islamic as worse than being black or Hispanic (or Asian). I believe that someone that would kill another on the sole basis of their skin color would find another excuse to kill in a mono-ethnic society. Violence for them is the adrenalin rush and ethnic purity is just the handiest excuse to use.
