My mother, who is very judgmental, says that my boyfriend, who could be my husband one day, is ugly and that I "could do so much better than him". He's the first and only guy I've ever dated. He comes from a totally different culture, we're vegetarian and his family is not. Basically, he's everything she didn't want and now she makes me feel like crap for liking him. The days after I tell her again and AGAIN that I want to be with him, she ignores me and makes me feel bad for liking him. He's the sweetest, most loving guy, he's a doctor, and he's ready to take me into his life forever. It's more than I could have asked for, but now, I'm beginning to think that I need to conform to popular culture and look for a good-looking guy. He's attractive to me and he thinks I'm beautiful. I dont know what to do. I dont think my family will value my love for him and will treat me like crap forever if I stay with him. Don't know what to do....

You say he's attractive to you, and honey that is ALL that matters. Your mother isn't going to wake up beside him every day. Tell her that she's being shallow and immature, not only do you think he's attractive, he treats you well and you love and respect each other. Most mothers would be thrilled if their daughters had that. Your mother sounds, at best, insecure, vain, and shallow. If she's going to be rude to him or treat him like crap, tell her you simply won't be seeing her or coming around if she's going to be mean to the man you love.

If you are old enough to marry then your old enough to choose .The fact that YOU find him attractive is all that matters.As far as being "judgemental" we ALL are including you.You 'judged " him as being attractive, sweet etc.Thats a judgment.Your mom dont find him attractive ,so what? Just take the time to get to know hi.Does it bother you he isnt vegetarian?He probably wont become one just for you, can you deal with that for life?Is he already a doctor or is he out of school? Let him finish school first.Just take things slow and please, no sex until after youre married.

Don't dump him for some pretty boy. Looks fade with age. A pretty boy wont always be pretty. A nice guy will most likely stay nice through his entire life. If he is all that you say he is, he is a keeper. If you find him attractive, that is all that matters.

Well if your family is going to treat you like that, then they must not really love you. I'm 15 okay? I've dated some hott guys, and some ugly ones. They seemed attractive to me. My bro hated all of them, but sis basically hated all of them, and my mom didnt care. It was up to me and she didnt have a say in it. Just tell your mom your feelings for him and why you like him. If she tries to ignore you, just keep talking. If she really loves you, then she'll understand. If not, it doesnt matter. It's ur decision not hers!

Love is simple when saying it, but difficult to express it when it occopied the HEART. Your perent love you because they borned you and they will never hate you no matter what you do to them. Your boyfriend can exercise pecient and let go of you if you tell him that you are not longer intrested in him anymore. But rememer, You can`t dennied the feelings that exist in your HEART because it will remain in your HEARTY as long as you leave. And if you play with it, it will leed you to HEART ATTACK. I`m 24 and i have HEART ATTACK because i tried to ignored my feeling, and i don`t want this same thing to happen to you my lady. Please, try and explain it to your perent how you feel about your man, i think they will concider you as long as you are their child my lady. ok

Your mom seems selfish. She needs to respect your decision to be with this man(who sounds wonderful by the way) You should stay with him if he makes you happy. Do not leave this man only to make your mom happy! you'll regret it big time. Take care
