When the Dems lose the Presidential election in 2008, I'm going to be grinning from ear to ear and doing the Snoopy supper dish dance !
The Dems are going to be absolutely stunned. They are going to learn:
1) The American public is not as stupid as they hoped
2) When it comes to national security, Dems are rightly viewed as confused amateurs, with dangerously naive ideas.
3) Having no real solutions does not constitute a viable political platform.
4) America is ready to re-defeat Communism (aka Hillary)
As for the future of the Democratic party, way back in 1977 when I was a sophomore in High School, I wrote a paper for my Political Science class entitled, "Has the Democratic Party Outlived its Usefulness?". Even though my teacher was a solid democrat, he thought the paper showed great insight into the vacuous, stale ideas of the Democrats.
I think the Democratic Party is in for one heck of a setback. I think the Democrats will shoot themselves in the foot, and will actually alienate more Americans as they attempt to distance themselves from Republicans on issues of national and international importance.
(By the way, I don't know why this wasn't investigated more vigorously: phony exit polls were disseminated to all the news stations showing that Bush was trailing by a huge, huge margin in most states. When I heard these, I was stunned. Later, I found out these polls had been concocted by Democrat operatives in an attempt to dissuade Bush supporters from going to the polls. They would think their votes would be pointless. Why wasn't this investigated??? Will the Democrats try to steal the next election too? Isn't it ironic how flaming Libs keep harping that Bush "stole" the first election, but would never admit that they tried to rig the next election by discouraging Bush voters?)

Though your question is a bit ridiculous, it does bring up a good point, in that neither party deserves to survive as they no longer represent the average person in the U.S. The Democratic party was near death until the Republicans brought it back from the brink through their own incompetence and arrogance. If there had been a realistic third party to choose from, the Democrats would already be gone and the Republicans would disappear in 2008.

Personally I'd almost rather have the Republican nominee win the 2008 election.
Whoever wins in 2008 will be inheriting a massive shitstorm from which there's really no good way out of, and the blame will basically fall in their lap.
And since it was an incompetent, corrupt Republican administration which engineered this mess, a Republican administration ought to take the rest of the blame.
Plus, if another Republican administration continues the same folly for another 2-3 years, by the time 2012 rolls around they will have guaranteed at least 20 years of Democratic rule.

It is very possible you are right for if the McCain is elected it will essentially be because of that huge elephant in the living room which nobody wants to talk about and that elephant is RACISM. Republicans/conservatives have a long despicable history of racism from favouring Slavery and fighting to maintain it to keeping slavery un-officially alive and well with Jim Crow and their horrid attempts to defeat the Civil Rights Act in the 60's. Many of these Republicans/conservatives were in the South and the south today has still a long way to go to rid itself of it's racism as facts on the ground in the south attests to. I have no doubt that these racist will be out in force voting Republican in November and could very well tip the balance to McCain. What a friggin hollow victory it would be to have won because of the racist vote.

Get a clue, dude, they are ALL owned by the same "interests". The party system, "free" elections, and the rest of the BS is "windowdressing" to keep the "peasants" mollified. Who wins is irrelevant, the base agenda always remains on course. What a shock, eh? :))
Take a look at, for example, http://www.montalk.net

look outside son. the neocons have pigeonholed themselves weakening the Republican Party. the Democrats have the power in Congress per the most recent election.
Since you can see into the future up to the election but not beyond somehow, please tell us who the President will be.

Keep dreaming.....with the last six years of Republican rule, there is no way a Republican wins this time around. People are sick of the war and know that voting Republican will continue it indefinitely.

it will be the beginning of the end of the Democratic party. though, i think it has already begun. year in and year out they prove they are incompetent. with their flip-flopping- hypocritical-everyone is a victim-unrealistic-wishy washy-insane-talk.... everytime one of em opens their mouth, it's a new hole in their armor... eventually, they will not be able to withstand their idiocracy.

Can the Republican Party survive having another unpopular leader whose ideologically-derived policies fail miserably?
