Can you believe this story - is this misuse of your powers in office???
WASHINGTON - The Chungs, immigrants from South Korea, realized their American dream when they opened their dry-cleaning business seven years ago in the nation's capital. For the past two years, however, they've been dealing with the nightmare of litigation: a $65 million lawsuit over a pair of missing pants.
But the bulk of the $65 million comes from Pearson's strict interpretation of D.C.'s consumer protection law, which fines violators $1,500 per violation, per day. According to court papers, Pearson added up 12 violations over 1,200 days, and then multiplied that by three defendants.

Much of Pearson's case rests on two signs that Custom Cleaners once had on its walls: "Satisfaction Guaranteed" and "Same Day Service."

What are your opinions????

This situation is pretty sad if you think about it. It's obvious that this judge is abusing his powers and is trying to bankrupt these small business owners. I believe that the judge was appointed and his renewal hearing is schedule soon..I believe even before the hearing against the Chungs. If there is ANY justice in this judicial system of ours, the following should happen..common sense:

The judge's renewal is denied and he is no longer a judge (how could you let a judge who is soo vindictive judge others?;
He should also be stripped of if ability to practice law in general;
The allegation against the Chungs should be dismissed and the judge should pay for all the legal fees that the Chungs had to dish out for the past 3 years..didn't cost the judge anything over the years since he represented himself.

If the above doesn't happen then I'd be very disappointed even further with our judicial system.

The "judge" is arrogant, egotistical, shallow, petty, sleazy, unethical, greedy, probably racist and egregious in his behavior. All the trappings of an attorney.

Hopefully a jury will give him zero dollars, but think what this has already cost the Chungs. At best this was a Small Claims Court action and should have never made it into regular court. Shame on this moron, shame on the presiding judge in the case, shame on the legal system, and shame on whomever elected or appointed this leech.

I brought up this issue on yahoo and got some interesting answers.. Clearly this man is an idiot... he seriously believes that he will get $65 million over a pair of pants.. that a week later was found.. and was offered $12k max for a settlement.. and still.. this money hungry man decides that he will continue to seek for more.. Its just rediculous.. WHO is he kidding.. seriously.. any sane Judge who sees this will throw this case out... The Chungs dont even have $65 million to give.. does he expect them to pull it out of their a*s..

And people wonder why lawyers have such a bad reputation.

The Plaintiff is a judge, by the way. I'm not sure if he was elected or appointed, but I have to wonder if this says anything about his ability to interpret the law fairly and impartially.
