As you pointed out, the US bears a good deal of responsibility for attracting so many to come here without regularizing their status.
However, those who want to stay here would be more effective if they staged a "Thank You USA" march. They sacrificed to come here, that sacrifice has paid off with jobs, freedom, and other advantages. Wouldn't you think they would be thankful for the opportunity, thankful for not being deported, thankful for being welcomed by employers, schools, and hospitals? If they were to express their appreciation for the US, and their desire to be a full part of it and take on the burden of citizenship, wouldn't that make a much better impression?
The US has real enemies, the Islamist extremists. The illegal immigrants, for the most part, are not our enemies. But are they willing to stand with us against our enemies? If they are, then they deserve citizenship. But if they are not, then we can't continue to protect them.

I thought the illegals have the right to come over here and sponge off the rest of us; that's what the Prez, Hillary, and OB have been telling me; are you some kind of evil person or Scrooge, all they want is free food, free health care, free housing, free education, free everything; get out there and work, you ingrate, these people have a lot of needs to be filled and they cannot be met unless you get out there and start working harder; I'm going to send McCain to give you a good lecture in compassion if you do not take heed; why not go out right now and make cash contribution to the Latino-American Alliance, they like free money too.

Oh Jeez, don't bring up Clinton!
And by they way, the unemployment levels today are really good, like 4%, better than almost any time in history. So try to get better data for your opinions, dude.
Anyway, if you want to get historical, look at the terrible Immigration Legislation passed by the US government in 1986.
But I don't want to get historical, I want to solve the problem NOW. The best way to solve it is to ENFORCE the laws against HIRING illegal aliens. When the jobs go away, then the illegals will go away. Simple as that. Not easy, but simple. And "not easy" is no excuse!

Even though I hope no one would do it for real--when I heard about the march going bad I wondered why no one had a giant net to throw over the crowd. Americans are guaranteed a first amendment right to assemble--but does anyone standing in America have that right?

actually children in the US need to learn a 2nd language, but not nessacarly spanish!. i am half mexican and bilingual but my 2nd language is russian not spanish. i had no desire to learn spanish.
any how!
yes the poloticians are gutless, capitalism has caused this problem, and i am not sure of DHS actually had jusiatiction over immagration. i would that the state departmrent would enforce that but i will ask my psolitical science professor.
also i think you a little narrow minded worrying about illegals when we have the bigger problem of the gangs, drugs, human traficking, and terroriests comming in to the nation from south of the border.
