Four Seasons Greece

Well, it used to have, until the late '70s. As a child and a teenager I have experienced the distict seasons and their changes. Winter was mildly cold, with a break of shunny days called "alkyonides", then there came spring with all the lovely features of this season (cool breezes, flower blossom), then summer which was never hot (in the evenings we used to wear a light sweater when going out) and automn followed with the first rains and the leaves of the trees falling down, painting in deep yellow the pavements in the streets. And all this in Athens. Now the seasons are only two... Winter and summer, the latter being extremely hot. But don't you think that this occurs all over the mediterranean territory? The climate of the entire planet has changed... It is a pity that new generations will never have the chance to experience no other "four seasons" than the ones of Vivaldi....

Yes, although for many years we have been complaining that spring and autumn are not available any more, meaning that the weather changes very fast from cold to warm and vice versa, without the "transitional" periods in between. However, at the moment (maybe because our winter was extremely mild this year) it is really spring (actually, since mid March it was great): sunny, very warm, flowers blossoming, nice to sit in the sun.

Of course! Now, for example, is the perfect spring time. Warm, but not too hot, nice weather, flowers blossoming etc. The summer is hot, but if you are near the sea it's great (it's not like African countries or anything!). The winter is mild, but there are cold days and snow in the mountains mostly, and the fall is kind of rainy but most of the days are great to stay outside, even go for a swim in September!
