IDEAS are thoughts, dreams, and aspirations. While KNOWLEDGE are facts, data, information that exists and have come to be come accepted facts.
Ideas are the fruits of the human mind's reasoning ability, and its complex thought of resolving problems. Ideas for some may not be accepted and could be considered relative truths, not absolutes. While knowledge are established facts, verifiable and tangible based on scientific evidence, research, and supported by the metaphysical attributes.
Many knowledge comes about from ideas, and knowledge have brought out many ideas in us. That is why this two philosophical thoughts could not come to terms, and neither the answers could be an accepted knowledge nor could they be accepted as such, only ideas.

An "Idea" is the seed of a hypothesis. The thinker gets an idea and can turn it into a hypothesis (not all ideas get this far). The hypothesis is then tested, tried, and a conclustion is made. After this conclustion is made, it is knowledge ...
Next step ... WISDOM ... taking knowledge and finding ways to use the knowlege for the greater good.

Plato subscribed to a 'theory of recollection' which ability quite that the soul is immortal and you in no way 'study' something, you in basic terms remember what you knew in a prior existence (a prior physique with an identical soul). Descartes i'm unsure approximately.
