how do americans see oriental-looking people in the US in general? in europe?

Becasue here in the philippines,oriental people are type-casted as rich individuals, and many find them physically attractive, both male and female. Is it the same in the US? in Europe? i mean in all aspects - money, attitude, looks, etc?

Well, I feel qualified to answer because I am an older white male and in my part of town there has been a large influx of Chinese immigrants since the 1980's. To me, the vast majority of them seem to be very nice, attractive, well dressed, successful and polite. They seem to take extremely good care of their children and the children seem to be well behaved.

The few I know personally are clever and have a very dry sense of humor. They are very interested in America and American history and ask me lots of questions which I am glad to explain to them.

I am also interested in Chinese culture and their family background. It takes a while before they open up about that. Many have had pretty bad experiences back in China.

Money-they seem to be well off and have good educations and jobs.

Attitude- they tend to be very determined to be successful in everything they do.

Looks- The women seem to be nearly ageless. They look young and pretty most of their lives. The men tend to stick with women of the same race more than the women do. I have seen many couples with Asian wives and various races of husbands. Have only seen a few Asian men with women of other races. I do not know why this is. Perhaps there are more Asian women then Asian men in our area.

Marriage and family seem a high priority to Chinese Americans. That is certainly a good thing.

Americans don't really think about Oriental looking ppl...we like thinking of ourselves duhh

I see them no different as any other individual (white or not). I treat everyone the same..
