That happened all the time where I use to work (won't say where). They would be gone 10-15 minutes out of every hour. After about a year, I started taking a non-smoke break. I'd go outside and breathe in the fresh air for 10 minutes or visit a friend in another office. Taking a break really helped rejuvenate me and I didn't stink when I came back to the office.

I don't think that would be fair to anyone. And no you shouldn't take up smoking (unless you fake it to get an extra break). I am a smoker and let me tell you you should never try it for real.

Tell a supervisor about your concerns cause that just isn't right. Everyone should be treated equal!

No, if you don't smoke then you shouldn't smoke just to get an extra break at work. I would go to the boss and talk to them about it, that is not right to give a few people a break and not everyone. I am sure your boss could get into trouble for doing that too.

Go ahead and take a break away from the smokers. No, don't take up smoking.

I know what you mean. My husband, a non-smoker, doesn't get breaks at his job, but the smokers do! It's not right. Non-smokers work just as hard as smokers, they all deserve equal breaks.

This has been a problem for a long time.

One way some companies are dealing with it is to have a "no smoking" within so many feet of the property.....so smokers would have to go really far to smoke.

Never start smoking....there's no good reason to smoke.

Go straight to human resources, employees should be treated equally, when the smokers return have the none smokers go for a break... =)

Not right. Everyone should get the same breaks and there should be two places to do it, one smokers and one non.

It's the same way here, too. All the smokers get a 15 minute break before and after lunch, and it's not fair. They should get docked 30 minute's pay, those stinky jerks!

Thank you for bringing this up. I work with smokers, these assholes end up taking two to three breaks a day while I only get one. **** smokers, they smell like **** anyway!!!
