you don't need any qualifications to start, but you do need a good artistic flare and be able to draw! You will also need to find a tattooist that will take you on as an apprentice, which is usually unpaid. You may have to pay the tattooist to train you which can be expensive.

My Husband is a tattoo artist and all he had to do is just find a tattoo shop that is looking for help, then you have to find a person to do a tattoo on right i front of them. It might be a couple of times because they want to see the lines you do(if the lines are straight, lines are nerrow), the shading, and also the way you do your coloring if they like your work then you more than likely got the job. If you want to own your own business just get a business permitt. of course you have to take classes of sterilization and how to keep equipment sterilized properly. Thats all my husband had to do now he does tattoos out of a shop and at our house

Ignore these other muppets.

you will need to be good at drawing in the first place, there will be certain health and safety courses you will need to attend.

I dont think there are any specific courses for actual tattooing as its really an artistic thing that can't be taught.

you should however practive on pig skins as its close to human skin in texture etc.

i recommend you talk to some tattoo artists, they will know for sure and maybe even give you a little job to start you off.
