there are two answers, one would be...

No, we wouldn't be here without taste buds, taste buds have allowed us to make distinctions between the variouse things we need to eat to stay healthy, for example, the reason we all love the taste of sugary things so much is because they were once very rare and an hugly rich source of energy etc, so our taste buds developed to enjoy that particular taste, so we would activly seek these things out... now of course, sugary things are not rare at all.

The same logic has been applied to many over the counter cough medicines etc... they are purposfully made to taste fowl so we don't over endulge and more importantly so children don't decide to consume a bottle should they get there hands into the medicine cabinet.

Another answer would be...

no, again we wouldn't know if things were to salty etc and while we may not be so obsesesed with consuming choclate and things that are bad for us that taste good, the social aspect of eating for the pleasure of eating would be gone and it is entirely plausable we may not be as happy because of it... and happiness is a big part of being healthy...

it's wide open to speculation really, shades of grey and all that.

Absolutely! I sure wouldn't want to live in a world where I couldn't taste chocolate, however.

in between yes and no, but because of that, we would not then be able to taste bad foods (e.g. rotten, sour, poisoned, mixed with drugs).

although it increases our amount of food intake, we would also be just patching up with the energy and health we lost because of eating "bad foods"

I seriously doubt it. Eating mouthfuls of tasteless food sounds like slightly more fun than MTV.

Well, in a way yes cause then we would only eat cause we were hungry.

Then again, some people may starve cause they might forget to eat enough.
